Re: securing my wireless
If you are talking about the wireless security, by default it's not enabled so you need to enable it by going to the router's setup page. here's how: open a web browser (e.g. internet explorer, firefox etc) then type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar. it'll promt you for the username and password, leave the username blank and type admin (default password)on the password. you will then be prompted with the linksys page, go to the wireless tab then look for the wireless security subtab. there you can enable your wireless security.
hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern

open a web browser window on the connected computer and type http://192.168.1.1
into the address bar and press enter. A window will pop up prompting
you for a username and password to access the configuration page for
your router. Enter admin for both the username and password.
If it not accept then type user name Admin leave the password box blank and then click ok.
If it still does not accept it that means you have changed your user name and password of linksy. To get your linksys default settings you will have to reset your linksys router by inserting a paperclip into the small Tiny hole into the back of the Linksys router for 10 sec.
Now you try to access router by user name and password which is mentioned above.
now you will have Linksys router page and now click on Security seetings on top
choose WPA PSK security settings
Now it will as you the security key
Enter any security minimum of 8 Characters anything you like.
click save settings on the bottom.
now try to connect to your Wireless network
it will ask you the security key
Enter your security and your wireless network is secured now.
here is also the Linksys Tech support no. as well. to know your exact user name and password of linksys and other details.

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to make you connection secure the you need to set a Network Key on your router and need to access the Wireless Settings Page.
To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security You can select either WEP, WPA or WPA2 to make it secure and under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure. Generate a personalize key for your network.
If this works dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.
Access the router's default configuration address through your Web browser by entering this address: http://192.168.1.1 (see Resources). Do not enter a user name. Enter "admin" for the password. That process works for all new Linksys routers. If you have changed the user name or password in the past, use the user name and password that you created.
When the configuration screen opens, click on the "Wireless" tab and select "Wireless Security" to view the router's current security password. The "Security Mode" field will say "Disabled" if you do not have a password to secure your network.
Select the appropriate encryption type from the "Security Mode" drop-down menu. Linksys routers offer WEP and WPA encryption. WPA encryption allows you to use a single password to access the network. WEP encryption creates 10- or 26-character keys that act as your password. Some of your wireless devices may only utilize a certain type of encryption. Determine which protocol is best for your network.
Enter a password that will be required to access the network. For WPA encryption, you can write your own password. For WEP encryption, click the "Generate" button to create passwords that can be used to access the network. Write down your passwords and keep them in a secure location.
Click "Save Settings" to confirm your changes. Your network will now be secured and will require a password for access.
Click the "Administration" tab to create a password to access the router configuration page itself. Be sure to change the password from the default "admin." Reenter the password for confirmation in the next field. Click "Save Settings" to confirm your new password.
If you don't know the password, then you need to reset the router,
Hold it down the reset button with the help of a pen point and power cycle your router. Then re-do the configuration following the manufacturer's instructions. Then you can set password for your router.
press win key + r under run type cmd on the command prompt type ipconfig not down your defaut gateway. type it in your web browser, and then enter the correct user name and password for the router.(i u dont know the user name leave it blank or try admin for both user name and password or its combination o call dell for it) Create a unique password on your router : Once you have logged into your router, the first thing you should do to secure your network is to change the default password* of the router to something more secure. This will prevent others from accessing the router and you can easily maintain the security settings that you want. You can change the password from the Administration settings on your router’s settings page. The default values are generally admin / password. Change your Network’s SSID name: The SSID (or Wireless Network Name) of your Wireless Router is usually pre-defined as "default" or is set as the brand name of the router (e.g., linksys). Although this will not make your network inherently* more secure, changing the SSID name of your network is a good idea as it will make it more obvious for others to know which network they are connecting to.
This setting is usually under the basic wireless settings in your router’s settings page. Once this is set, you will always be sure that you are connecting to the correct Wireless network even if there are multiple wireless networks in your area. Don’t use your name, home address or other personal information in the SSID name.
This is sufficient to secure your router from other to use it.
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer. Step 2: Go to the Address bar and enter your
router’s IP address ("192.168.1.1" is the default IP of most Linksys
routers) then press [Enter]. Step 3: A new window will prompt for a User name
and Password. Leave the User name
field blank then enter your router’s password ("admin" is the default
password), then click OK. If you forgot the router's password you need to reset the router. Step 4: Click on Wireless--->Wireless Security to view the Security type and the Key.
To change the SSID, click on the Wireless tab. Look for an
input item labeled SSID. It will be near the top. Enter a
new name for network. Don’t use something like “My
Network”. Use a name that is be hard to guess
In the same screen that you changed the name of your network,
you will see options for SSID broadcast. Choose “Disable
SSID” to make your network invisible. Now save all your
settings and log out.
Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape)
When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Wireless Router (The default IP Address is 192.168.1.1).
A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Wireless Routers password (The default password of a Linksys Router is admin) into the "Password" field.
After the "Setup" Page loads, click on the Wireless tab.
From the "Wireless" area, click on the Wireless Security sub-tab.
When the "Wireless Security" area opens, select the Disable option for "Wireless Security" option
