Question about Toshiba MD20FN3 20 in. TV/DVD Combo

My remote control does not work

The original remote control that comes with the television stopped working. Originally I thought new batteries would be a solution, but that didnt work. I figure the remote was broken, so I purchased a brand new remote (not universal) and new remote still does not work. Is there something wrong with the TV, is it not recieving the signals from the remote? please help...thanks for your time.

Re: my remote control does not work

You could have a defective IR sensor in the tv set that sends the infared signal to the MIcroprocessor IC. These are something you cant just replace, as it needs to be trouble shot with a scope to see if theres a data signal comming out of the sensor and if there is it could be a bad solder connection somewhere between the sensor plug to the Main IC. Also could be the B+ that supplys voltage to the sensor. Unless you have had electronic repoair experience, You should have a pro assist you with this repair. Sorry I couldnt assist you more with this . Good Luck

TV does not detect remote control.

Remote control receiving sensor circuit problem in the TV. Mostly due to degradation of the sensor over a period of time.

Go close to the TV and see whether you get a response. If it responds try determining the distance back wards. If the remote works up to certain distance, the problem is weak sensor (TV).

If totally not operative it is sensor circuit problem. It could be sensor or it's associated parts.

Remote Control not working for MW24FM3 Toshiba

I have the same problem with my unit. I use the original remote and my Tivo remote. Both stopped working at the same time. Ocassionally they will work for awhile then stop. They always both work or both don't. Therefore it must be the TV; likely the sensor or something connected to it. Sorry I don't have a solution. Guess I need to take it to the shop.
