Thank you Kevin; any advice on how to go about doing doing that before I try to figure it out for myself....This computer does not belong to me although I do have permission to fix this problem if possible- but I don't want to mess it up even worse...If I actually uninstall the mouse driver will I be able to get it back after that? I'm sure this is a simple operation but I don't want to take any chances...

Try uninstalling the drivers for the mouse first, then reboot to see if that works. Don't worry, the drivers will reinstall automatically upon reboot.

Hope this helps. :)

Scroll button stuck so cant get password to get into my pc

Consider changing the mouse, and/or checking its cable connection. In the meantime, each press of the "Tab" key moves the cursor to another field asking for input.

The two biggest problems in XP is audio drivers and graphics drivers. From a long experience dealing with all kinds of graphics cards and drivers I would say that the driver you are installing is not correct for OS and your card. Not sure what you are using that makes you think it is but I believe it is not. If you are using a driver scanner software then beware. Your best bet is go to here..

..this will give correct driver. This will probably fix BUT keep in mind that the pc beeping means hardware issue, so0o0oo not having the correct driver will also cause this, but usually not with a graphics card or it's driver. Usually this is mobo, ram, hd, etc.

The green circle runs almost constantly. It will

The green circle indicates there is something the computer is working on....you might want to check in Task Manager and see how many proccess its working on. Then you could either restart the PC and see if this happens, if it does please reply and we can work on something else.

Do you have any open programs open? Or does this happen from computer start?

I have an acer netbook and occasionally i get a weird symbol when i move my cursor. it's almost like a bullseye. it pauses my cursor until it goes away and then in can continue. what is this?

This is a custom cursor that has been setup by either:

A program on your computer
A custom cursor program like free cursors or something.

Check you computer for programs like "smiley cursors" or check the windows control panel and open Mouse settings to see if you have any custom pointers.

It is possible that.. instead of an hourglass.. somebody, or a program has set a custom pointer for your mouse.

The pointer changes to an hourglass in any windows setup by default when it wants you to wait for something that is happening in the background to finish processing.

Check for spyware and viruses as well.. customer cursor websites are great at getting people to install them and you get infected sometimes.

My mouse has a cursor but the cursor won't move when & where I want it to. Have switched to a different mouse & it does the same thing. What is wrong?

One thing you can try is you are currently using a PS/2 mouse (one with pins and whatnot), try a USB mouse. If that doesn't work then you know there's something wrong with your Operating system. If it does, then there's something wrong with the PS/2 mouse port

Cursor stuck in middle of screen

If you are using an external mouse, unplug it and see if it will go with the pad.If it works with the pad then its the exteranal mouse.
If you are using the pad you may have to replace the pad or recalibrate it using the pointer device, you can use the tab key to go through to the start menu then use the arrow keys to go to control panel.
Hope this helps
