Pen Won't STOP Working

I was trying to draw with the wacom tablet and it stopped workign properly; the pen kept applying pressure even when it wasn't touching the tablet. It keeps clicking even from nearly a centimetre away from the tablet. I tried changing the tip but that had no effect. It's never been dropped, jarred or abused in away way. Help?

Same problem here every time I go into cs4 or any other drawing program it just stays drawing.

The stylus malfunction can be described as: permanent pressure (even with the pen away from the tablet or turning it by the eraser side: same problem).

I have the same problem but haven´t found a way to fix it... I´ve tried to fix it by changing the nib but didn´t work at all...

sadly none of the solutions worked for me. I am having to order a new pen. ): Of course, I am very clumsy and I have dropped the pen 3 times. The third time the nib came out. I put it back in and this happened. I have changed the nib many times and tried all of these solutions .. nothing works. :/ Thank you all for your help and if you have any other ideas please do share. ^^

Well... I contacted Wacom support and the guy who write back recomended me to change the nib, to turn 3 times the eraser and to hit 4 times with the pen onto your palm hand...

Of course I didn´t do anything like that, I mean, what´s that??? An spell of some sort (or what)???

But what I did was the following (MAC-OS user):

-Enter to the pen tablet options on your preferences
-Switch the sensitiveness of the pen to the hardest
-Run an app that work´s best with your tablet and make some lines to check if at least in this mode the pen works
-Return to your tablet preferences and adjust at your best

I can´t explain why but my stylus is working fine again...
hope someone find this useful...

I figured out the same solution - setting the hardest sens. - but it makes drawing really hard, you have to push yor pen really hard and can't draw really soft lines.

Hey guys! I have a solution from Wacom. Take the tip out and wash it. Then leave it OUT of the pen for 24HRS. This worked for me and now my pen is working fine. Credit goes to Paul Struk from Wacom Tech Support.

The internals of the pen can stick if the humidity is too high. Best thing to do is to clean your pen or turn on a dehumidifier.

Why won't my wacom grip pen click when it touches the tablet instead of hovering and selecting text?

Have you tried pulling the nib out (the end bit you draw with)? It could be that something is sticking the nib further inside the pen than it should, which is telling the pen you are applying pressure. As far as I know there is a little spring inside the pen that the nib pushes on when you touch the pen to the tablet. Perhaps the spring is permanently squished in.

Illustrator CS5 does not recognize my graphic pen, wether with the Wacom tablet or my new Monoprice tablet. It draws a yellow sticky note kind of thing, it is annoying and I can't find a solution,

I too have a tablet not made by Wacom. For some reason, Illustrator only opens the tablet-sensitive definitions for Wacom. The solution I found: Go to the Wacom site, install the latest intuos driver. You won't be using it, but it will trick Illustrator into thinking there's a Wacom installed, the definitions will be active for your pen. Mine seems to work fine now.

My Wacom seems to be confused. It's acting like an etch-a-sketch. The moment I get my pen any where near the tablet is starts drawing. It can be even an inch above and it's still continuously drawing. I...

Try resetting the preferences to the default (or factory settings). This is related to proximity or pressure function. Open the preferences (with the mouse) and adjust these. Once adjusted, swop to the pen and see if this has made a difference. Trial and error… Another issue, may be the tip has damaged, or is jammed 'on'. Using the special tool provided, remove the teflon tip and clean the pen with a mild solvent.

In the wacom control panel, there is a sensitivity setting. move the slider to less sensitive. this does not affect the pen pressure, only how sensitive the tablet is to recognizing the pens presence.

Pen is always drawing

Dear All,

I have experienced the same problems in the aforementioned cases about the pen randomly highlighting things on the desktop/making selections, as well as loss of double tapping feature for double clicking. For my situation, I am pleased to say that I've managed to resolve the problem it may or may not help but worth a try. The solution:
(1) go to control panel and open up the 'Pen Tablet' icon,
(2) under 'Tracking' select 'Pen Mode' and click on 'Details' tab,
(3) under 'Screen Area' select 'Monitor' (*IMPORTANT*)
(* other settings I have are: 'unchecked' force proportions, 'Tablet Area' set to 'full', number of monitors under 'Screen Area' set to 1)
Following the above steps should remedy the problem. It worked for me. I hope it proves useful to you as well.

Kindest regards,
Jon
