I had the same problem where the player kept turning off by itself. It is actually my husbands player, and he did not know you have to click on safely remove hardware in order to prevent damage to the player. Well her is what worked for us: I plugged the player into the USB port on my computer. Once I did I right clicked on the Opal drive in the "My Computer" window. I clicked on the tools tab and selected scan this drive for errors. I made sure both options were checked and waited for the scan to finish. Once it did it said no errors were found. I went ahead and had my husband try it to see if it worked. It did and has still not turned itself off. Some MP3 players Like the Sansa Fuze will turn themselves off after a full charge via USB cable, however the RCA Opal will not.

Opal Flash MP3 Player Stuck at initializing..

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Cannot initialize HDD

Try taking the back off & unplugging the battery from the hard drive for a few seconds. This worked for me. You could also try pressing the reset button on the back of the player (I used the end of a bent paper clip). Leave it plugged into the charger when you take the back off. Good luck!

San Disk Sansa m 230 512 MB

Your problem is probably beacause you accidently deleted "AudibleActivation.sys" from your "Audible"-folder. Format the sansa and then use "reset to factory settings" to make the file appear again. It might be a good idea to make a backup on your hard drive, just in case, and make the file hidden.
