Well, first, I would remove the outer shell again and make sure the wiring harness is on the motor correctly and all of the way. Also, check to make sure both wires are securely on the capacitor. These may have loosened while you were doing the coupler. Also, make sure the door switch harness that plugs into the top of the shell is securely on. If the motor worked before you changed the coupler, these are your most likely problems. If the motor didn't work when you replaced the coupler, try bypassing the lid switch by jumping the two wires (the two that are not green) on the harness that plugs into the shell. If the motor works after that, replace the lid switch. If it does not, your will have to check voltage at the timer and motor to see where the fault lies.

I can't get my washer to spinn, I hear the timer inside ticking but won't spin out the water

If the washer will agitate but not spin I'd suggest you to replace the lid switch. Then you need to check the
coupler is working properly or not. In order to provide you proper steps to access the coupler and lid switch.
Please resubmit the question with some more details.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore 80 Model #11020802990 Won't Spin!!

i think you have a basket drive tube problem, what happened to mine was the thrust washer had ground off the bottom of my tube, the clip that holds the brake release arm fell off,the arm fell down breaking the 2 little pins on it, without that arm on the tube it won't release the brake allowing the basket to spin, you would have to remove the tranny to see if there is a problem there,,,,,also the top of the tube there is 2 notches that line up in your drive block, could be broken there,,,,you would have to remove the agitator to check there!

Washer fills and empties, but agitator does not move in centre of machine? Washer goes through timer cycle, I suspect drive belt is broken?

If it will not spin either, but the motor does run, the motor coupler has failed. It is also possible the transmission has a problem, but the motor coupler is more than likely the problem. This model does not use a belt, it uses the coupler instead.

Will not spin

Hi,
The problem is a broken motor coupler.
Set the washer on the regular cycle, large load and let it fill. After the washer fills to the selected level, the motor should start and the agitator should start agitating.
If you hear the motor running, but the agitator doesn't move at all, do the following. Stop the washer and set the timer on the spin cycle and let it run.
If the washer motor runs and the washer empties the water from the tank, but it won't spin, that is an indication that the motor coupler is not turning the transmission at all.
The motor coupler is made of two pieces of plastic called fingers and a hard rubber piece that goes in between the two fingers. One of the fingers is attached to the motor and the other finger is attached to the transmission. They had rubber round piece goes between the two fingers. When one of the plastic fingers breaks, the motor is no longer coupled to the transmission and the washer will not agitate or spin dry the clothes. The reason that the motor coupler breaks before it should, it is that the user overloads the washer. People stuff the washer with too much clothes, big comforters, small placer rugs, snickers, etc.
Another reason is that the washer is used every day; normally the washer is used 3 times a week. So if you have a washer that is 5 years old and you use it every day, it has the wear and tear of a washer that is 10 years old.
Replacing the motor coupler is not hard to do, once you see how the repair is done. You will save at least $100 by replacing the motor coupler yourself.

Maytag washer will not cycle.

The clothes are wet after spinning When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Kenmore washer not draining,spin drying

if you can hear the motor running with a loud ticking noise you probably need a drive coupler. if it stops dead and nothing happens you probably need a lid switch.

Washer only fills. then completly dead.(timer still advance)

is there any humming coming from under or front of your washer? whirlpool built machines for about 10 years now are "direct drive" ...the motor has a plastic coupling held in place by a rubberish plastic donut type of thing, its an inexpensive fix and there are videos on youtube on how its repaired..its under 10 bucks and usually cures any lack of agitation/ spinning ...i had a roper by whirlpool and once i replaced it from a parts machine i salvaged it was fine.. so check you motor coupler/ coupling and that maybe your answer, if not there is a set of wires and a cut off in back of the motor to prevent overheating, which may have tripped..also a good point to check.. good luck
