Memorex dvd player pscan split screen

Memorex MVD2042 - The only switch on the back of the unit had gotten bumped when something fell behind the unit, thus causing the same issue mentioned here. Looking at the front of the unit, the switch is straight back from the disc tray on the left. (of course, if you're looking at the back, it's on the right side) This switch is for "Progressive Scan" either "on" or "off"

I just had the same problem and I looked in the back of my Memorex dvd player and there was actually a button where you can turn the progressive scan on or off.

On the back of the dvd player there is a switch to cut the progressive scan on and off. it should be off and u should be set to go. i referred over to this and discovered it back there. Hopefully this should help you. Good Luck!:)

yES THE BOTTON TO CUT OFF THE PSCAN IS ON THE BACK. GOOD THING YOU GUYS POSTED THIS - I WAS READY TO THROW IT UP AGAINST THE WALL!! :-)

My OTIC DVD does not have a Pscan button on the back, and holding the Stop key for five seconds didn't work either, but pressing the V Mode button did work. Now it's perfect.
It was also playing in black and white, and hitting the PAL button fixed that. So, one happy camper here

If you have a jwin jd-vd502, click the I/P button on the bottom of the remote!

On your remote, there may be a button P-Scan, which you may have inadvertently pressed. So turn on the dvd, and press the button, it goes to normal mode.......just wonderful! I just realized this button was there........lol! Thanks everyone for trying to help.

Press on the stop button for 5 seconds.
It will take you out of the pscan.

The switch worked (that's what you get for cleaning).

I don't know if this will help, but it is one of the most common faults I see when a DVD player is brought in. The problem is that your DVD player is set for progressive scan output, and your tv is not capable of that input. I am not familiar with your model specifically, but there should be a F.A.Q. section in your manual and a procedure to to take it out of progressive scan mode. If that is what you found, and you followed the procedure, then there must be a glitch in the built-in program. If it is not a very old model, the place you purchased it, may be able to show you how to get it out of pscan mode, and probably not charge you.

Thanx. Called the Source and they didn't know but flipping progressive scan switch on back... perfect.

I tried all buttons and I got on a "reset" button, It works perfectly now.

For the Sanyo DVD dx-501 that we were trying to get to work, we pressed the V-Mode button twice and it worked!

I no longer have the manual and the remote won't work either. What do I do?

Thank you! I knew that "PSCAN" triangle was trying to tell me something - BUT WHAT? Now I have a different problem - the setup button on the remote won't work. It worked a minute ago. Is this a low tech problem like - low batteries?

My remote had the I/P button which turned the progressive scan on/off. This worked. Although I am trying to figure out how it was turned on in the first place. My PSCAN Message showed up when I was trying to FFWD.

yes switching from progressive scan to reg mode did take off the pscan logo and split screen it the switch on the back of the unit.ps hopes this helps:)
