Hi, I saw a post about a maintenance manual for removing the covers to get to the inside to repair it...but nothing was in the reply. Does anyone know if any maintenance manuals that show you how to properly remove the covers to my Workcentre C2424? Desperately need help! Thanks!

Re: C2424 Removal of covers
They would tell you how. But I can tell you how to remove them
1. Disconnect and unplug the document feeder and remove the document feeder and scanner assembly. Once you remove the molex connector from the socket by the power cord you go to the back of the machine and there will be 2 tabs you press down to release the scaner, pull it back until you get it past the tabs, lift up and off.
2. There is 1 screw on the back of the machine, for each cover, on the upper portion of the frame, they are torx screws, remove those.
3. Step to the side of the machine and lift up and out on the cover, pull at about the middle of the cover. The front cover will pop off in the process, that is all that holds the front on. Slip off the front cover and lift the side covers up and toward yourself. Some tabs will realease as you pull the covers up. That is all there is to removing the covers.
What do you want to do once inside the machine??

What is the condition of your print cartridges? They could have dried out during the 2 month period that you didn't use the printer. Try, cleaning the contacts of the cartridges and the printer. If you have new cartridges to try....even better.
The 37,002 error code is for a defective heater in the printhead 650-4354-00. There is no reset or workaround for this error.
Unfortunately, the part is fairly expensive, but the C2424 is such a workhorse, you may want to repair it.

That is a problem with the print head movement, Normally on a 2424 you get ink spill from the catch tray, It spills into the print head block and causes the print head not to pivot properly. Remove the scanner and document feeder assembly, remove the two screws on the back covers and pull up and out on the side of the covers. The front cover will also come off. Now on the left side, looking from the front, you will see a stainless steel block. about 1 inch square, it is on the lower part of the frame about 2/3 of the way back. It will most likely be contaminated with yellow ink. You will have to slip the spring clip off of the block and use some channel locking pliers to work the block off, clean it well, the print head shaft also, then remove as much of the excess ink as you can from the machine, If that doesnt fix your problem let me know, the cleaning blade may be tacked to the print head. But check the print head block first. that causes that code most of the time.
Did you removed the Scanner from the top yet? if so, its kind of tricky. ] On the back of the C2424 there are two star screws, You have to remove those. Then Proceed by opening the Front Cover Release which is in front of the printer;to the right of tray 1(manual feed tray). - this will allow for the covers to come off a lot easier.
Next at the front where the paper would land on after being printed. that tray must be removed in order to remove the side panels. there are no screws left. It just pops out of place. Try different maneuvers. There is not much to possibly break it just snaps on/off.
Once you have that tray off , there are no screws to remove the two side panels L (left) and R (right). There are no more screws holding it from this point. the panels have pivots at the bottom and will come loose without much force at a short angle.
Then finally on the top depending on what you need to work on. If you need to get to the print head and the wiper blade assembly or further. You will have to remove the Wax tray. Just roll the exit roller assembly upwards to make room to remove wax tray. Once its pulled out there are two cables needed to be removed. A power cable and a data i believe.
Then from here on out, you can do a lot.
Whats the issue you have? just curious.

NOTE: Please let the printer cool before doing this by turning it off and unplugging it. Print head can get extremely hot. Also
Here is what you need. Its is easily replaced through the maintenance drawer on the right side of the printer
