Yep, same problem! If I keep hitting the CD button, after about 250 tries, it seems to go back to normal. For a while. Then it starts all over again....very disturbing as the sound is great when it works and of course, never sure when it will happen.

tried to eject cd and it did not come out and now the cd player will not play or eject any cds

yeah i have the same exact problem

Sadly I have the same problem in my 2002 Mustang V6 Convertible....Tried ejecting CD #4(other banks were empty) and it got stuck. Door is stuck open and the CD is stuck inside somewhere.

Nothing plays now, I just get "CD Error". If anyone knows how to fix this (my car is in mint condition short of this!) I would appreciate it.

Otherwise I am looking at replacing the whole unit which seems like such a waste.

I have this problem quite often. I usually have to remove the unit, unplug all wires that are attached to it, and then connect all the wires again. This procedure seems to 'reset' the unit, and it usually works once more.

Cd stuck reject button won't work

Look at the face plate of the CD drive, if it has a small hole located under the tray straighten out a paper cilp and stick it in the hole to preform a manual eject. Remove any disc inside and close it. Now try to open it normally. If it still does not work it is time to buy a new cd drive.

I HAVE A 2002 MUSTANG GT. THE CD PLAYER IS MESSING UP AND HAS BEEN FOR A WHILE NOW. IT KEEPS TELLING ME CD ERROR AS SOON AS IT IS STARTED. IF I PUSH THE LOAD BUTTON IT TELLS ME ALL THE SLOTS ARE FULL, BUT...

Sound like the cd player itself has the issue. It will have a small sensor in the player to tell the user if all the slots are full with cd's or not. thats either gummed up or blocked from doing its proper job. as far as the cd error goes, thats your laser. If its still the stock 6 disc cd changer, its a good time for you to concider changing out that cd deck.
good luck bro

CDs are stuck and CD player will not work. Factory six-disc radio. New CDs.Third new factory radio with same problem. Any ideas on getting the CDs out?

From everything I've heard, this is a very common problem and can be costly to have repaired. One forum I found had this posting...maybe it will work for you.

"This is what I did to my In-Dash 6 disc CD Player.

Rather that toss the radio like most are saying to do you can try this first.

Pull the radio out and remove the screw on each side and the 2 on the back. Pop off the cover and you can see the CD's. The part of the CD changer may have not fully engaged the CD it wanted to play and it is stuck not knowing what to do. Press on the CD that so that the part that spins the CD is locked into the center of the CD. Leave the top open and plug in the CD player. It should start going through all of the cd's then if the CD error is gone it will play again."

6 Changer cd player

to take the radio out you need to remove the big plastic piece around it. to get the radio out there is a special key that fits into 2 little holes on the side of the head unit.

6 disk cd player error

This is a part failure in the mechanism that loads and ejects the disk, there are no repair manuals avail to either the tech or the consumer, the only place that the factory gives this info and parts to are factory authorized repair stations, bottom line you must pull the deck and contact a Ford dealer in your area for location of the nearest factory repair station. I was dealer tech for 20 years and that is how it is done.
