Question about Wolf Range WKGD-2 Gas Double Oven

Open Question

Double electric oven problems ++

My oven is less than 5 yrs old and very underused. So far I have had to have it repaired for the lower self cleaning- didn't work after it was used once, the thermostat stopped working, now the shock absorber in the door suddenly let go so the door flops down hard & the cool fan signal continually comes on leaving the oven unusable as it shuts off & reverts to cool fan whatever that is? It seems impossible to get service although Wolf in the states has tried to find someone for me. Of course my son's wedding is this week & I'm supposed to be entertaining for the rehearsal dinner etc. I had to shut the designated breaker off because the chime for 'cool fan ' constantly rings. I tried every thing over the next morning & the same problems resumed. Help!

SOURCE: Wolf Double Oven

I had the same problem with a Wolf L-Series double wall oven (Model DO30) and called for service (under extended warranty contract). The tech told me that the F1 error is a latch problem (you know the one that grabs and locks the door during self-clean cycles). He cleared the error using a series of "secret" button presses on the control panel and the problem cleared. Now, when it happens (which isn't very frequently), I do the same thing he did ... press "0" and "Temperature" for the oven causing the problem and hold them for about 5 seconds. The oven will ding and the display will show some diagnostics, including the error event. Press "Cook Time" and "Stop Time" while in this diagnostic mode to clear the error register, then press "Off". I've also tried to keep the area across the top of the oven opening clean (with a little degreaser), especially around the latch, and I've sprayed a bit of WD-40 into the latch periodically for lubrication and cleaning.

SOURCE: we have an old wolf

Hi

The issue can either be a bad electronic control/clock assembly or the oven temperature sensor (probe) has gone bad. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi,

Do you see any Error Message on the Display?

If not, then it should not be a Concern. More often this could be Thermal Fuse on the Back of the Unit ( On Most Models ) will stop the Broil and Bake from Turning ON. You would just start a bake cycle and the temperature will sit at 100 and something degrees and never raise.appliance.

Let me know, once you check the same.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Remove the oven from the wall. Remove the rear panel.
The upper and lower ovens have a non-resettable thermal fuse that has blown.
Use a VOM to verify which fuse. After repair use Easy Off, not self clean.

Self-Clean gets too hot on JTP56 double-oven

Your husband is correct, kind of. You should not try self clean again until you get the oven repaired. You have a temp sensor going out. I doubt that the oven actually got too hot, most likely the resistor in the sensor is failing as it heats up and giving a false temp reading.Since the lower oven was operating at the time, it is probably the sensor in the lower oven. Don't use it for baking until you get it repaired. It will go out completely and shut down both ovens. You should be able to get a new sensor for around $30 and they are not hard to replace.

The oven won't set your house on fire during clean mode if the cabinets were built with the correct air space and dimensions, but they do get very hot, about 800 degrees F. Most ovens give no trouble during the clean cycle, but if there is any weak components in the electronics system it will show up then. It will give you less trouble over time if you don't use the self clean mode and just manually clean it.
