Re: how to attach tomtom xl to windsheild?
Usually you don't attache the GPS to the windshield. it is too heavy. you can attached to the dashboard or in-front of the console. there are attachement that you can get from any of the place that sells GPS. or cell phone.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Try resetting your TomTom. To reset your ONE XL, use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button. The reset button is next to the memory card slot on the bottom of your ONE XL. Then turn your ONE XL on. I have attached the link to the manual which shows a picture on how to do it. Thanks for using FixYa
just remove the 4 screws on the back of the case and split the front and the back halves. becareful when removing the back cover as the battey and speaker are attached to the back cover and the wires are connected to the main board (front half)
the battery is attached to the back cover with two sided tape.
This is TomToms fix, apparently something went wrong with the software, my advice would be to make a back up of the device using the TomTom home software. This issue can come from disconnecting the device while it is attached to the computer and software while it is busy, always make sure you use the eject device in the TomTom home software if you are connected to the PC.
Are you talking about the easyport mount on the XL 330S model? If so it applies fairly easily in a secure snap. When I tested out the new mount, it was fairly easy to snap on without any added pressure. TomTom has great customer service and I'm sure they'll help out to the best of their ability and if it was in fact defective, you're bound to get a replacement. TomTom doesn't want any unhappy consumers. It's a shame it broke, because it is actually a great device.
once you have taken the 4 screws apart, the back cover is attached to the front one with plastic latchs. To open them, the best is to use one nail or a thin piece of plastic. Do not use an screwdriver or any other metallic tool or the covers will be marked. Begin with one of the sides, then the other, then the top (or the botton, I don't remember). You should not apply a strong force, and be very careful when it is almost done, as the cables connecting the battery and speaker are very short and could e damaged if the case opens suddenly.
Be gente and you'll be done.
