If its not a black xbox 360 slim than it doesnt have wirless so you either need a wireless adapter or ethernet cord that will hook up to the modem from the xbox.

Could you tell me in steps how to conect to xbox live

Step 1 Form your Xbox 360 you need to be connected to the Internet by a straight LAN line or wirelessly. You can test you connection by going to the setting screen on your Xbox 360.
  • Step 2 Once connected to the Internet for your Xbox 360 go to your main account screen and find the tab that says "Join Xbox LIVE" click on that link then follow the simple instructions that the Xbox LIVE will provide. At this point you should have a name in mind for your gamer tag.
  • Step 3 Xbox 360 LIVE has several different options available for memberships. They are a monthly, 3-month and 12-month membership accounts. I would recommend a simple one month account if you just wanted to check out the features offered on XBOX 360 LIVE. If your an avid gamer and love to play games online with friends, the 12-month Gold membership is the way to go.
  • Step 4 Once you've completed the process of joining Xbox 360 LIVE, they will send you a confirmation email confirming your membership. Now you can log on to Xbox 360 LIVE and start doing this like customizing your avatar and playing online multi-player games.

My xbox 360 wont connect to xbox live and ive tried everthing

things you can do..... first start by connecting your 360 to the router and run a test through the system setting menu on your 360 dash board.... to do this go to system setting menu and select the network setting menu.... after selecting network setting there should be an option to test you`xbox live connection.... this is the first step in trouble shooting.... if your xbox connects to the network or router than the problem may be in the Internet connection.... after you have a connection between the xbox and the router... connect the router to the Internet and run the the test again... if you are connected to the network and the internet but still not to xbox live try doing a system update to update your system with xbox live.... after doing all of these steps you may have purchased and xbox that has been banned from xbox live and will not be able to join xbox live..... a more simple solution is that you may not have an xbox live account and simply need to set one up... this can be done through the xbox or you can go to and set up a live account... you can also find FAQ's and trouble shooting steps there

How do I connect Xbox 360 wirless network up

There are two ways to set up wireless connection to your Xbox 360, and get Xbox LIVE. Now remember, for you to do anything with the wireless connection, you need to buy Xbox LIVE. The company has a 3 month free trail for Xbox LIVE that you can sign up for. Then, when you have that bought, your true experience can begin. If you are fortunate enough that you console location is near your internet router, then you can hook up your 360's internet cord to the back of your router. then you will have to go to your internet configuration and test your connection, and you will have live. The other way is by going to Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Gamestop, or any other game seller and buy something that is called the Xbox 360 wireless connection router. I'm not sure if that is the exact name, but it looks like a pretty small internet router. Then, you hook that up to the front or back of your 360, into one of the many USB ports, and you install it. You may need help and may have to call Xbox 360 customer service. But, those are the two ways to get live.
    Please rate.

    Thankyou, Good Luck, Noob815

If you have the Xbox connected to the internet (You can double check this by going to 'Test Connection' in the settings area), then you still need to create a Gamertag to connect to Xbox Live. You can do this on a normal PC on the Xbox website, or on the console itself.

If Test Connection shows another problem, post more details so we can help.

    Xbox live

    2 Solutions-----

Number 1 - If your ethernet cord is going from a modem straight to your 360, then get your modem replaced by your ISP.
This will probobly be free, but if your charged, it will be a small fee.

Number 2 - If you have it going to a routerfrom a modem, then go to your 360 main screen, scroll to the far right 'System' blade, select the 4th choice 'Network Settings', and test your Xbox LIVE Connection. It will ask you to sign out. Select yes.

Results should come up (for wired router)

    Network Adapter - Wired
    Wireless Network - (Left Blank)
    IP Address - Confirmed
    DNS - Confirmed
    MTU - Confirmed
    ICMP - Confirmed
    XBOX LIVE - Confirmed
NAT - (either moderate, opened, or strict)

If all those are the same, the problem has nothing to do with the xbox itself and you need a new router, or modem.

If results come out to be
    ''Network Adapter - Disconnected''
After test is run (and your 360 is connected properly to your router AND modem then you have a hardware problem. Whether the problem is in the 360 or the router/modem is easy to test.

Connect the modem directly to the 360 via ethernet. If this fixes the problem, the router is fail.

If you can get on the internet wirelessly and grounded on a computer, the 360 is busted.

Sorry it took me so long to explain that, but i hope it helps you.

    Best of luck

    Xbox live

I would suggest that if you are xbox live unless you have fast internet dont use the internet for other things like your computer. Its most likely that there is not enough bandwidth for everything. If that doesnt work call you internet service provider and explain the problem to them and if they are a legitamate company they will help you out.
