Re: We bought it used with no remote...

Unfortanantly, you need the remote to turn off the OSD(on screen display)Its available but costs about 45 bucks!!!! Or the OSD IC could be shorted and wont default out. Sorry I couldnt assist you more in this matter. Good Luck

Can't use VCR

There's nothing wrong with your VCR. Your remote probably set to control your TV. To fix that, simply press the VCR button on the remote, and you should be fine. The "T-U" really means "TV," but the designers at Panasonic wanted to use the standard seven-segment display to cut costs, hence "T-U" instead of "TV."

Bought MATSUI VX1107A VCR and promised it was working bought remote but PIN protected Can anyone help or maybe tell me where I can get an instruction manual for this model Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought the Matsui VX1107A many years ago and recently pulled it out of storage for use in the childs bedroom.
I unluckily put the pin in it three times which were incorrect, only to see Protected across the screen.
I then trawled internet sites as I certainly wasn't going to part with my hard earned money to MasterCare for them to come and reset it.
Then I came across a site that told me to pull the plug out the wall for an hour then plug it back in, then switch the vcr on then press the up arrow and the record buttons together at the same time for 5 or so seconds, then hurray it was unlocked but not set back to factory settings so I got another 3 try's of entering my pin again which i got correct, so if you know the pin then you can try this.
Failing that I have the manual which came with the vcr if you tell me the section your looking for I'll scan and send the part to yourself but you would have to send an email address to send the document.
Hope this helps

Pro-Tect Plus™ Locking Feature
To disable VCR usage or to protect set timer recordings, the unit can be locked so that the
buttons on the VCR or remote control don’t work.
• To Lock: Press and hold either the remote control’s ON•OFF or VCR button until SAFE
appears in the display to indicate Pro-Tect Plus is active. SAFE also appears if the VCR is
turned on while the feature is activated.
To Unlock: Press and hold either the remote control’s ON•OFF or VCR button until SAFE
disappears from the front panel display. Unlocking is the only way to use the VCR.

Tracking display will not go away

Try unplugging the unit for 30 minutes and see if that takes care of it. Just turning it off won't clear it because as long as power is coming to it ex. plugged in, it won't clear. If that doesn't take care of it you may have a problem with the selector board. If so get yourself a new VCR as it will cost more than it is worth to fix it.

Will only display on ch 3

You will need to take the original remoter and go into the menu, find the channel set up and reprogram the VCR for the channels, as when you lost power the channels also went out because of the memory chips need the power to hold the data.
