Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Could the RROD be casued by my hard drive failing.
If I detach the hard drive I still get the RROD.
What does the three red rings actually mean
It means "general hardware failure", so it could be any number of things. Its like a check engine light except when it comes on , it means something doesnt work. The only way to fix it is to send it off to xbox. Call 18004MYXBOX and they will send you a prepaid shipping label and a box and will get it back to you within a few weeks. Your xbox should be covered under microsoft's warranty so it shouldnt cost you anything. Removing the hard drive wont fix anything because the hard drive isnt needed for the xbox to operate, so if it failed the xbox would be fine but wouldnt be able to retrieve the data off it.
