Question about Epson Stylus Photo R1800 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Won't print anything but head utility

My printer won't print from any program or any printer. It will print the head utility cleaner page but that's it. I send a document to the queue and it shows up like it is processing then just quits or stops the print job. I have updated to the latest drivers from the site and that doesn't help either. I was printing fine from it a month ago and now it won't accept anything I send to it.

Please help

i have the same darn problem, my R1800 is not printing, says it is or will also says it fails, depending on its mood. i have been trying all day to resolve this problem that has kept me at bay for a few months, but only thought it was a a feeder issue.. it works sometimes, tried what others have said, changing the print speed, rebooting, reinstalling, etc. tomorrow i will try firewire, whatever. i am so sick of this, also just had feeder repaired, and paid for it. thought all was resolved, only had printer a year and all problems start and now i have no warranty and a printer that wont print pictures! any other ideas to resolve, i am out of ideas and patience!

If you are using Mac, make sure you choose or add the correct R1800 printer ( USB or Firewire ) to the Printer list in order for the printer to response. Hope this will help

There are 2 simple methods to resolve any print job stuck in queue issue. However, both the methods will not fix printing issue if the HP Printer is in Error mode. Make sure your printer is able to print self test page to prove its functionality,

First method.

This Utility program resolve all the printing issue for HP Printers Only ( Network and USB connection )

This Utility will Resolve :

1. Check Connectivity between the Pc/laptop and HP Printer
2. Check if there any Documents stuck in Queue
3. Check if all the software/Drivers are correctly Installed
4. Check if the HP Printer icon is the default icon to print
5. Will Resolve Printer Spooler Issue and few more issue

Download the file on Desktop and Run the program ( Ex. File name = HPPDU.EXE )

Click Here to download the Utility and save on Desktop location
Run the HPPDU file and follow the instruction on screen to fix.

If this does not fix, try the 2nd Method given below ( this is manual process to clear the print job stuck in queue )

This works for all brands of printers ( HP, Canon, Epson, Brother etc )

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > then select Command prompt, then the black window will open and there type NET STOP SPOOLER and hit enter that will confirm service is stopped , after that on the black window type NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Repeat this step 3-4 times and end the command with NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Open the Printers folder and Refresh the Window ( Press F5 on the keyboard )

The service will be started and all print queue should already be remove.

// Above given solutions help in resolving print queue issue, however check the printer functionality if it is working fine ( the printer should be in working condition and should be able to print self test page, this utility cannot fix printer hardware issue //

It keeps on printing over and over

The printer has a queue that holds the pages to be printed. Clicking on the "Print" button on the computer more than once will send the page to the queue each time, and you will get multiple pages of the same document. This also could be a slightly corrupted printer program that fails to stop the queing of the computer or printer. You might try reinstalling the program that came with your computer, and see if that helps. Not much to go on here, but hope this helps.

Check your windows firewall or your antivirus.
Disconnect that for a while and delete all pending documents (queue).

Send a new doc to print and see what happen.
Usually those program are blocking the communication between printer and computer.
If this is your case, set a rule on your antivirus program.

Have a great day!

Printer queue is full

This problem seems to be related to USB printers and print queue issues are very common in Mac OS computers and Windows 2000 PCs.

You don't say if you are using a USB connector, but they're pretty common these days. You also don't say if you're using a Mac or PC, but most people use PCs. I did find a solution for this issue that says it's related to Windows 2000 and a USB printer, but may apply to other operating system platforms:

Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue

The first step to this solution is to download and install an HP diagnostic software utility. There's a separate page at HP that describes the utility and lets you download it:

HP Printing and Diagnostic Utility

I didn't find any information that specifically said that you "can" print a test page but "can't" print a document.

Another reason why you might be able to print a test page but not a document isn't related to the printer but the application that created the document. If you are having trouble with Word or Excel or whatever office application you used to create the doc, it might not print. That's why it is helpful to try to print a variety of different docs, created with different apps.

It could also be the individual document. Occasionally, a document becomes corrupted and while you may be able to open it (and sometimes you can't do even that), it doesn't print. If you haven't tried printing more than one document, you can test this by creating another doc in the same app and seeing if it'll print.

Try doing test prints with different docs and then with docs created in different apps. If those work, it's doc/app related. If they don't, try the links I suggested above.

Good luck.
