-   i have a sony dsc u10. some months ago it wouldn't turn on even if it has fully charged batteries. i even bought new set of batteries just to make sure theyre not the problem. thinking it was just a mechanical problem, i brought it to an authorized sony service station to have it checked. but when i got there it turned on so they didn't check it anymore. i was able to use it again normally for some months. just recently whenever i turn it on its low batt indicator would flash and immediately shuts down. but ive ruled out battery problem already so i brought it again to the same repair shop. they told me to leave it for a no of days so they can troubleshoot it. then they called me and said that the problem is with the board and replacing it would cost around 250$! could this really be the problem? coz i can still view the memorystick's contents when i connect it to the pc using the usb. i'm thinking it might just be a short circuit thing. of course i didn't have it repaired at that cost. i kept the camera for its sentimental value. i bought a new cam instead--a canon ixus70. but m still hoping to know for sure what went wrong with my dscu10.-   april dawn

-   Even with brand new batteries the camera only comes on for a second then shuts down. Occasionally it will stay on to take pictures but only very occasionally. This has been happening since we bought the camera and originally thought it was the batteries but now realise it is a fault with the camera. What do we do? Had it since August, bought from Argos so exempt from money back guarantee.-   Guest
You have either a faulty charger, a faulty battery or a fault in your camera. I purchased 2 batteries for my Sony 505v and from new one of them kept flashing an empty battery sign right in the middle of the display. Actually it was fully charged but Sony batteries have a little circuit inside them which tell you how long the batteries will last. In my case I could continue to use the battery but put up with that flashing icon. I returned it to where I purchased it and it was replaced Immediately.
Please ,next time give us a little more information as to what battery type it is and which camera it goes in. Some cameras can develop a natural short circuit over time.

I dropped my cybershot camera on the tile counter. Lense is stuck in the out position and is off kilter. The two pieces don't line up and it won't go back in. Can it be fixed? How do I do it?

I have a fuji finepix 3800 camera and the low battery icon flashes and then the power turns off even when there are new batteries in the camera. This just started happening. I have had the camera for 4 years. Help!!!!
I have the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7. Lately, even though my rechargeable batteries are fully charged, the caera's battery indicator reads empty and the camera will only let me take one or two shots before shutting off. I bought new Ni-Mh batteries, charged them, and it still happened. Then I put brand-new alkaline batts in just to see, and it is still happening, so it is not the battery. I cleaned the battery terminals with a Qtip, no improvement. Must be some sort of electrical problem with the camera, can it be repaired easily?
