Locked keyboard and mousepad on acer aspire 6920G

Suddenly keyboard and mouse pad locked on my laptop. \when i am trying to boot it goes until the windows entry code but then i can not type anything. If i go to bios the keyboard works properly. I tried everything like FN+F11 (Num lock), or FN+F7 (mouse pad lock) but nothing works. I took out the battery and tried to boot only with electricity but again nothing.
I have the laptop 2 weeks now.
Please someone to help me!!!!!!

I too have ASPIRE 6920G. I am having the same problem. Is anything given in the user manual about this because I don't have it.

I tried with Fn+Fn7 but it dIdn't work.

I tried with removing the battery but same continues. Anyone can assist me in this

    FN+F7 for mouse pad lock/unlock.

If nothing happens then this what i did with mine 6920 was continiously pressing Alt + F10 at boot up for windows formating.

Almost same problem: the mouse froze.

Found a nice solution at another website: switch off the pc, unplug the power supply cable AND remove battery. Press "on" switch for 20 seconds. Now re-install battery, plug back power supply cable, and switch on. Worked for me (what exactly worked for me I don't know but hey)

Good luck.

The same thing happened to me and I had to do a system restore. Then tell windows not to auto install new updates. It is totaly a window update driver issue.

Gooooooo.. Vista! YEAH...

Sounds like a Window's driver issue. have you tried Safe mode? Tap F8 (without the FN key) on bootup and select Safe Mode with Networking, your keyboard should work there. Post back with your results

Try unplugging your mouse and then repeating the same steps. You appear to be having a fairly serious OS issue.

  • Arthur Keech Oct 20, 2008

Hmm, without being able to log into windows we don't have many options. Could you try plugging in an external keyboard (make sure you remove the mouse though). When you reach the login screen press Tab once which should select your password entry section. Hopefully your keyboard will work from there (try both of them). After you get that working post back and I'll tell you what you need to change.

Ahh shucks... well it looks like your going to need to reformat your computer or get it serviced by a technician. Keep in mind if you format you will lose all of the information on your computer.

My mouse pad itsnt working.. wondering if there is a lock on it!

On some laptops, there is a button that is used to disable the mousepad.  Sometimes it is a small button just above the mouse pad that has a light next to it.  Normally when it is off, the light is either red or amber colored.  There is almost sometimes a function button to toggle the mouse pad on and off.  It is normally one of the "f" keys above the numbers on the keyboard, and should have a picture on it of a mouse.  Then there is usually a FN key in the lower left corner of the keyboard.  You have to hold that down, and press the "f" key at the top of the keyboard that has a picture of a mouse on it at the same time.
