Question about Cameras
It is probably you have set for the highest quality (highest resolution) picture setting. This take the most memory. If you lower the picture quality, the picture file size is reduced and more pictures can be fit in the internal memory.
The 2000 pictures is probably for the VGA setting. If you use a 2-gig SD card, the camera will take and store about 2000 pictures at the 5-MP setting.

if it only holds 10 pics it is probably working off the 16meg internal memory and not your card which if it is a 6 gig will hold about 2000 medium res pics
