Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have a philips freevents x62 laptop that is stuck in a loop mabye caused by a virus. Im trying to perform a system recovery by pressing f10 repetedly when turning on. This brings up a screen that says it is starting a system recovery. It then goes to a screen with the philips logo on and does not seem to do anything else. It just stays on this screen. Is there something i should be doing on this screen or is this normal and how long should i wait.

When I called ZT Tech support, they had me hit F8 instead of F10, then I chose boot to hard disk and pressed enter, After pressing the enter key you must keep taping on the F8 key to get into the system recovery partition to boot the recovery window. Worked Great! good luck, hope this works for you

SOURCE: gateway desktop xp starts then flashes blue screen for split seco

Sometimes they make the recovery disk with windows on it, but not the programs that start windows during the boot up phase. One of the three main files that boots into windows is corrputed or your Master Boot Record is missing. There are two options you can try without the OS disc so lets see if one of those will work: 1) boot up and press F8 to enter safe mode. Once in safe mode sometimes you can also get into window because just the minimum of the program is loaded. F8 Safe Mode>in windows>click start>accesories>system tools>system restore. It will allow you to restore your computer to a prior date before you have problems. 2)if that don;'t work then F8 safe mode and while in safe mode choose Last Known Configuration. Kinda works the same way as restoe but you don't have to be in windows to do it. If those don't work then get your hands on a windows xp disc, anyone's will do, don't have to be yours. Let me know how it goes.
Rate this solution. You can also find out about this at support.microsoft.com>help and support>type in Windows XP boot disk in the search engine. If those don't work let me know and we'll move on to phase II.

Your computer is infected with viruses. Solution: install and update anti-virus. You can use anti-virus free (Avira or AVG). Perform a virus scan process, with the option, if a virus is detected, the primary action "Repair" and secondary action "Quarantine".

hopefully help

My sony vaio laptop is always hang 5 to 7 mins. but mouse pointer is still moving. all application im working are stuck a few minutes. what are the possible solution for this problem. i do reformat but...

Please backup the data by logging in to Safe Mode, please restart and start pressing F8 key to select Safe Mode then re-install the Windows 7 Operating System using the Recovery Disc or recovery Partition of the Hard Drive. The Recovery Partition can be accessed by restarting the computer and try pressing F10 Key. The Windows XP Operating System is displaying an error because it does not have SATA Driver to detect the Hard Drive. As Windows 7 has it, you can re-install it from recovery partition.

How do i format my laptop sony ns-series completely because it got spyware virus in it and i want to format it completely. thanks

Hi,

The computer is supplied with a recovery partition in the hard drive. You can use the same to restore the computer back to factory settings. Please restart the computer and then press and hold F10 key to access the recovery partition. Once you access the same, please select "Restore C Drive" to perform a System Recovery.

As you have mentioned that the computer is infected by virus, there is a possibility that System Recover using the above method may not eradicate all the virus. In that situation a "Complete System Recovery" will be required. To perform a Complete System Recovery, you need the recovery discs. If you have created the recovery discs before, then you can use the same to perform a complete system recovery.

Else you can purchase the recovery discs from the below link:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/shoppingCart.do?operation=addToCart&itemId=679907&searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318687A

It is required to purchase the recovery discs only if the first step didn't resolve the issue. I'm providing the second options as additional information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!!!

I CANT LOAD MY VISTA DISK im trying to re install vista home but my computer keeps looping

Hi,

If you have not changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, the recovery partition in the computer will be still intact. In that case, you can use the recovery partition to perform a system recovery. Please restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key. This will launch the recovery partition and from there, you can select "Restore C Drive" to perform a system recovery.

As you have mentioned that you are trying to perform a system recovery using the discs(which i understand is recovery discs for the computer), I suggest that you check if the Boot sequence is set to CD/DVD Drive in the BIOS and then try again.

Thanks!!!!

How do i get a back door password for my acer aspire 5315 as i forgot my password

There is no back door password but you can try this

At the Acer splash screen, you can press Alt and F10 to bring up a DOS style version of eRecovery. The unit is able to reload Windows from this mode faster then from CD. If the hard drive is replaced the system loses its eRecovery features. These features are on the hard drive and cannot be reinstalled
  • Be sure that you back up your data files before performing this option. All of your personal data files and applications are erased during the recovery process.
  • Due to the large number of virus and Spyware threats on the Internet, it is recommended that you disconnect all Internet connections before performing the recovery. After the recovery, antivirus and firewall software can be installed, and then the Internet connection can be re-enabled to update the antivirus definitions and perform Microsoft® Windows Updates.
  1. Remove all CDs or DVDs from the optical drives.
  2. Turn off the computer, using the normal Windows shut down process.
  3. After the computer is turned off, disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse. This includes USB devices such as a printer, scanner, removable storage, or camera.
  4. Turn on the computer. After the Gateway BIOS logo appears, press ALT+F10. The easiest method is to hold down the ALT key and repeatedly press the F10 key.
5.Windows loads files. 6. If you get EDIT BOOT OPTIONS for Windows Setup hit the ENTER key 6.1. If you get EDIT BOOT OPTIONS for Windows 7 , Try ALT + F10 (ALT on the right side of the Space bar) 7. You will get the Recovery console , Select completly Restor to Factory Settings.

My sony vaio VGN-CS22GH laptop shuts doen by itself randomly. Please help

The issue may be due to any recent hardwrae or software changes and also due to any virus.
1. Remove any recently added hardware/software.
2. Try to boot the computer in safe mode. Press F8 button soon after restarting the computer to enter the advance boot option and select safe mode to boot computer in safe mode.
3. If issue persists even in safe mode, perform a system restore to an earlier time or date when the computer was working as expected. Performing system restore will not delete any data from the computer.
4. Reset BIOS to default values. (Press the F2 key after restarting the computer to enter and access BIOS).
5. Press F3 and F4 keys to reset the BIOS. or press the right arrow key until you reach the exit menu, then select the load BIOS default option.
6. Then, select the Yes option when promted, save the settings and select yes option. restart computer and check.
7. If still persists, perform a system recovery using the VAIO Care Software or the F10 recovery partition.
Note: ensure to backup any important data before perfoming system recovery. System recovery will erase all the data presnt in the computer.

Hi what is the buttom i press while i turn on my laptop to recover vista vgn cr490 i try but didnt work

Try with F10 key at start up.

Restart the System, tapping the F10 key immediately. This should trigger the System to boot directly to the Recovery Partition, and initiate the VAIO Recovery Center, without requiring the Windows Operating System to load.

In the VAIO Recover Center, select the option 'Restore C: Drive' and follow the onscreen instructions to perform a C: Drive Recovery.

Performing a C: Drive Recovery will erase all the data present in the C: Drive and will reinstall the preinstalled Operating System, Applications and the original Drivers.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!
