Picture is cut off at top and bottom

My picture is not completely visable. The top of the screen cuts off some of the picture.. I cannot view captions on the bottom of any screen. I have tried the "zoom" button. I have tried another "view" button, but none give me the complete picture that should be there.
Thanks.

I had the same problem with my westinghouse 47 inch HDTV. It turned out that someone had inadvertently hit the "format" key on my satellite (Direct TV) TV remote controller. If you have satellite TV you might want to check this out. I set it back to the previous setting and I get the entire screen. Hope this helps someone.

Have you tryed pushing the wide button? This button changes the screen to a panoramic or normal view. I usually have mine set on the panoramic view and nothing gets cut off and it is still a full screen unless you have a movie in that may stretch the picture more and even on the normal mode the top and bottom will be cut off.
Hope this works for you!

Resizing picture on vizio e43-d2. the picture is cut off how do I resize it

You can use zoom but that will reduce the clarity of the image and you will loose some of the view. The "cut off" as you say is due to the aspect ratio of the video you are watching, that is to say width to height, when the picture has blanked out top and bottom sections it is because it is shot in wide screen format.

Tv is not showing complete picture....some things are cut off

Change the aspect ratio.this can usually be done via the remote or through the tv menu.normal view for most wide screens is wide 16:9 but if you have zoom or crop black bars then you may lose parts of playback.

UN46EH5300 adjust screen size to get whole picture and closed captions

Sounds like you have it on zoom setting. Go to the picture menu and scroll through the options. Start with 16:9 and try others if this doesn't work. If you've already tried this, you may have to go into screen setting and manually draw the picture in horizontally and vertically - but make sure you've got it on 16:9 and paused on a typical picture before you mess around with these settings.

My closed captioning is getting cut off

Are you changing the format or picture size. Some times marked zoom on the remote. Are you using a cable box or SAT recever. These boxes also have setting for format change.

Sounds like you have a convergence problem and the set will require repair. This repair will run somewhere around $400 if you have a good company complete the repair for you.

If you are interested in doing this repair yourself you will need to be able to use a meter and solder VERY well.

If you have more questions please email me.

Big black box at top of screen

If you mean that a black box appears on the screen, and you can still see the picture around the box, it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. If this is the case, enter the menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF. If you mean that the top of the picture has collapsed down, the vertical circuit has stopped working correctly and the set should be serviced by a qualified tech.
