DRM I have a few TV shows and movies (wmv) I bought from amazon download, and I am able to play it on my PC. I have another PC that I wanted to play it on, but it won't play because it says that there is no license to me. Where is the license located on the drive so that I can copy it? Would I be able to copy the wmv DRM lincense key to another PC?

This looks like it's for the older version of Windows Media Player. How do you play it using WMV version 11?

  • Dennis Carey Oct 21, 2008

The Windows Media player comes with Windows XP. I don't know where to look for the key.

  • Dennis Carey Nov 09, 2008

It can be done by just getting a second hard drive and loading Windows XP with no updates. Install the first version of WMV 11 and use FairUse4WM. It will convert the file without any loss in quality.

I believe the tool and information you are seeking is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/drm/pluwiz.aspx

Amazon uses Microsoft's DRM scheme.

Try this. Go to WMP on your first computer. Go to Tools->License management and backup the licenses you need to your desktop. Put those licenses on the other computer using a CD, network, flash drive, etc... Then on the second computer open WMP go to tools->license management and restore those licenses onto that computer.

That tool I pointed to you is for CD's you ripped and protected using WMP and not for WMV movies.

There is no key for WMP. You best bet is to backup your licenses and restore them on the other computer.

It will located at the back side of the box or sometimes in the user manual provided with it.

How to remove DRM protection from iTunes movie rentals to MP4

As most iTunes users know, iTunes not only allows users to purchase classic films or popular videos from its store but also provide rental service for the users. People are more likely to rent a movie than buy one, that means cost less.
However, low cost also has its drawbacks. Once you've started to watch the movie, you have 24 hours to finish watching the movie (even if you start watching before the download is complete). You can watch the movie as many times as you want within this 24-hour period. The rented movie will expire when either the 30 day or 24-hour limit is reached. Once the rental expires, the movie is automatically deleted. You must re-rent and download the movie to view it after your rented movie has expired.
So in order to keep iTunes movie rentals for long time with MP4 players while not online, the rented files needed to be converted with an appropriate program.
Instructions
  1. Download a converter program like M4V Converter Plus for Win. Install the program by double-clicking on the installation file after download. Finish the installation, click the icon and launch it.
  2. Click the Add Movies in top left corner, then you will see the pop up windows which will show you all the iTunes purchases and rentals. Find the file you want to convert and click OK button.
  3. The added movie rentals will show up on the main window. And then set the output as you need. Here we choose Same as source for MP4 from the output profile list.
  4. Click Convert button to start the iTunes movie rentals to MP4 conversion.

More info about M4V Converter Plus

Tips to Burn Movies Purchased from iTunes to DVD

It's easy enough to burn a movie or video on our computer to a DVD disc in order to watch the movies on TV via DVD player. But it's not the case when it comes to burn movies purchased from the iTunes Store to DVD. As you need to know, all video files, including movies, TV shows and music videos we got from iTunes are protected by DRM technology, which makes it impossible for us to directly copy the iTunes movies to DVD burner software. But that not means we can't find a way to burn the DRM-protected iTunes videos to DVD discs for watching on TV. In fact, there is a tool called TunesKit iTunes to DVD Converter (http://www.tuneskit.com) will get the job done with ease.

This iTunes video converter application is going to help us bypass the DRM lock from iTunes movie purchases while converting the DRM'd video files to unprotected MPEG-4 format which is supported by most of the DVD burning software so far. Now you can follow the instructions below to easily get rid of DRM from iTunes purchased movies before burning them into DVD.

Here we will take iTunes to DVD Video Converter for Mac as an example. So make sure you've downloaded the latest version on your Mac. Otherwise you should click the URL here:
http://www.tuneskit.com/TunesKitforMac.dmg

1. Load iTunes movies to TunesKit by clicking "Add Files" button or by dragging & dropping action supported by this converter.

2. Select output settings, like the output path, audio tracks and subtitles before converting the DRM-ed iTunes movies to MP4.

3. Start to remove DRM protection from iTunes movie purchases by clicking "Convert" button.

4. Find the converted DRM-free iTunes videos in the output folder and add them to DVD burner to begin burning them to DVD.

Once the movies are successfully burnt to the discs, you are freely to play the iTunes movies on your HDTV via DVD player at anytime you like.

Can't burn to DVD tv shows from my ITunes? Is there any way to make a DVD from videos purchased through ITunes?

Movie from iTunes store has DRM copyright protection, you can only play it on your computer or Apple portable player. If you want to burn it to DVD to play on TV, you have to remove the DRM at first, and then convert and burn it to DVD. If you need detailed, I think this step by step guide would help you
