Service Remote Hi. I was going through the service menu on my 44sz8r tv and changed an option by accident and now my remote control doesn't work. The option said something like "CHREM=0" and changed it to "CHREM=1" then the menu came off before I could change it back. As I needed the remote to get into the menu in the first place, i'm just wondering if is there a way to reset the service settings or get in to the menu WITHOUT the remote? or have I had it. I've just read your post about the service remote you got and was wondering if it connects to the back of the set via a Pc serial cable or if it just works by itself. My set is the LG 44SZ8R. Hope you can help. Thanks.

    Hi.

I knew that you wasn't a "problem solver" but i figured you might be able to help. thanks for the reply anyway.

I've just got a reply back from lg UK and they too are saying that I need to purchase a new remote from a partner company. I'll probably find that it's the same remote that you had to buy.

Are you saying that because it hasn't got instructions you still can't get into the service menu? i hope not.

    Thanks again.

I'm not an engineer but i managed to reset my lg 44sz8r lamp
timer by pressing (and hold) MENU on the set & then press and hold
    MUTE on the remote.

The lamp reset menu should pop up allowing you to choose reset.

    Good Luck.

I can't get my light timer to reset. I press and hold menu on the TV and press and hold mute on the remote. I can't get the time reset to show. How long do you have to hold down the button and do you have to have a special remot to do this. I have a LG RU-44sz51d TV

Sorry, I'm not a problem solver. I had ask a question myself several month's ago that went unanswered. My tv is a LG RU44SZ63D. Through my own diligence I discovered that the special set-up remote for accessing the service menu is a 105-201M. I have no idea how many different model tv's this remote works on. I purchased the remote from www.newremotecontrols.com. It "IS" a tool and unfortunately doesn't come with instructions...

There's a button on the remote labeled IN-START. Pressing this button brings up the service menu then you navigate using the left/right/up/down buttons and close the menu by pressing the IN-STOP button. There's a whole bunch of other buttons that don't have anything to do with "normal" tv operation. That's where an instruction manual would come in handy. I intend to use my remote for only one purpose, which is to reset the lamp timer the next time I have to replace the lamp.

TV Sharp LC-40LE830U. My front panel ys disabled and my remote control don't work. I can power on/off only. How can I enable my front panel without use remote control? or reset factory settings?

If both your front panel and remote control are disabled, the best option would be to perform a factory reset to restore the TV to its original settings.
To reset the Sharp LC-40LE830U to factory settings:
  1. Unplug the TV from the power outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 5 seconds while the TV is still unplugged.
  3. Plug the TV back in and turn it on using the power button on the TV itself.
  4. Once the TV is turned on, press and hold the "input" and "volume down" buttons on the TV simultaneously for 5 seconds.
  5. The TV will then enter the service mode menu.
  6. Press the "menu" button on the remote control to navigate through the menu and select "option."
  7. Select "factory reset" from the options menu and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
Note: The factory reset will erase all custom settings, including parental controls, picture, and audio settings.

I have a 42inch sharp aquos LCD tv and there is no power. The power button keeps blinking. There is no picture and sound. What is the fix to this problem.

Power problem are cause by many reasons, i.e Power supply circuit, Lamp driver circuit and most often the TV detects an error cause by power surges. To protect TV from further damage most LCD TV have protection circuit built internally. If this is the reason of your LCD TV not powering On, an error data must be reset back to zero.
To change data you will need to access the service mode and change the value of lamp error code to zero (0). Entering service mode requires a trained TV technician. Changing data can cause more problem to your television. If you are not qualified to service your television, please do not go to service menu codes. Moreover below are the process, pls do so at your own risk.
* Unplug the TV * Press and hold the {VOL -} + {CH+} buttons located on LCD TV unit (not in remote control) Note: If above didn't work, alternately use (VOL -) + (TV/AV input) buttons located on LCD TV unit (not in remote control) * While holding the above buttons, plug in the TV. * The TV will turn on with the "K" or "K123" appears om screen. * Use {CH+} {CH -} buttons to go and display the service menu. Note: If above didn't work, alternately use (VOL -) + (CH -) buttons. * Search for "LAMP ERROR menu" from the displayed service menu by using "up or Down cursor" from remote control, or alternatively use "CH - or CH+ to select "LAMP ERROR" * change it to zero (0) value, using {VOL+} or (VOL -) on remote control. * Turn the set off to exit the Service Menu.

You need the factory remote only for this model of set!

Contact the service rep for your set and order a new remote.

As for the service mode, most RCA sets require an external service interface.

In many models of sets, the results and commands are in HEX. You will need the service manuals, hardware interface, and instrumentation to do proper setups and adjustments.

As for accuracy of adjustments, from factory these sets were very accurate. If there are changes, this is due to failing parts, and not from adjustments going out. The setups are all uPC controled and are exact. The set should be serviced to make it work properly, and not adjusted to offset faults.
