My heater has done the same thing, except I have only had it working 3 times. It will light the pilot until I release the button and then it burns out.

I have the same problem with my heater, but my big burner never lit. I've tried vacuming any debris that there would be in there and it seemed very clean. I have no idea !!

Same as all of them below. Push in pilot light button. Pilot light lights. Move knob to low or high and everythig goes out. And it doesn't matter how long you hold in the pilot light button it always goes out

Well, I just went out this morning and worked on the heater after it would not light last night. Turns out that a spider or moth set up camp in the pilot light intake housing and plugged up the two small mixer holes that pull in air for the pilot light. This would explain the 'yellow-flame'. I took a punch awl and some compressed air and cleaned out the hole, then re-installed the cover and knob. Lastly, I turned and depressed the knob and the pilot light ignited almost instantly, stayed on when I let the knob up, and the heater turned on normally after that. Good luck, I hope this helps.

The problem is that the lines get clogged with dust, spiders etc. Go to the bluerhino.com site. They have instructions for cleaning all models of Charmglow heaters. Good luck.

This is caused by a blockage in the pilot.
Disassemble and clean the Pilot light assemble especially the venturi tube.
Completely disassemble the venturi tube, it has an insert where the gas line is connected and you cant get to it unless you disconnect the gas line.

The themal couple is probably the culprit. You will see one end of it hanging into the pilot. The pilot heats that end creating a small electric current that allows gas valve to operate. There is a small copper line from the tip near pilot other end goes into gas valve. You can buy universal replacement kits. Usually around $15.00. RV parts store good place to look.

Burner on Charmglow patio heater will not stay on.

believe it or not, the propane tank may be too full. The vapor space is taken up and you have very little vapor. Run some warm water over the tank. The garden hose may be enough but if you get no frost line the water will need to be warmer. The warm water causes the liquid fuel to turn into vapor. Do not use boiling hot water. Another thing is oening the valve. Most propane tanks have safety valves. If the gas escapes faster than a normal rate, the valve closes. Open the valve slowlyand lt it burn for about 10 minutes before opening the valve further. It will get better as the fuel is used up and the vapor space in the tank increases. In real cold climates a heater blanket, sleeve is used tho keep the bottle warm. The vapor also creates the the needed pressure to move the gas through the system to the burners. Good Luck-Ned_

Patio Heater constantly goes out for no apparent reason

I wrote this for another person with a heater problem and thought it may help you as well.

Before you go changing parts, clean up the pilot assembly. When you heat metal and let it cool and heat it again it causes it to corrode. Also for some reason these areas seem to attract little spiders who make their homes here. This causes gas flow problems which in turn could affect the size and direction the pilot flame. For if it does not touch the thermocouple, thermopile or whatever that little thingy is called that tells the gas valve to allow the gas to flow...it will not tell the gas valvle to let it flow. Remove the corrosion, spiders, spider webs and any other insects then sand the thermocouple, thermopile or whatever that little thingy is with a rough sandpaper to remove corrosion. It will likely work after that.

I had them do the same thing. The gas flow problem caused a week pilot. Any slight breese pulled the pilot off of the thermocouple and out it went.
Pull the gas line off of the pilot and make sure you have good gas pressure when you press the pilot button. If you feel, hear and smell it it is good gas pressure.

Outdoor patio heater won't stay lit

I'm told by Charmglow that the problem is the Thermocouple. iHowever,it took me several calls to get someone to admit this. They are sending a new thermocoupler. My heater is less than a year old and under warranty--but it's a shame things like this happen.

Originally I was told it could'nt be the thermocoupler as they normally last at least 5 years.

Try it--as it may solve your problem as well.
