Engine stalls out

1994 big bear starts fine once running and under load,like going up hill
where you need to give it power it stalls out then you have to choke it to start it then ride for 3 to 5mins stalls out again. but you dont have to leave the choke on.

Sounds like a dirty carb or need to rebuild the carb, adj valves, new plug, do a tune up

Hi, you describe a chugging even on moderate hills, is your transmission shifting properly? It sounds like it's stuck in overdrive. Or a plugged injector or two that maybe push out fuel OK in warm up mode but not after. So if your transmission is downshifting when is should and you still have no power, I would have the injectors checked out. Good luck, chuckb

Trying to help out a friend. ... The truck starts, runs, and drives fine until you get to a hill. Stalls up hills


hi have you ever changed the fuel pump? or gas filter? sounds like is loosing fuel pressure under load, I would recommend to start with the filter and then move on but have the pressure tested the preasure is 53-59 psi, thats with key on but engine not running.

Any engine light? Can you hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds when you turn the key to ON?

Low power ford escort 1994, weak on hills


325,000 miles,, jeez,,,, need a rebuild on that engine. You walk that far and tell me how you feel, worn out im guessing. new set of rings and bearings and give the poor thing its bang back. give it a compression test to confirm but my moneys on low compression ie old engine

Lack of power


Change your fuel filter, and run a can of "Seafoam" in your next tank.....
Check your spark plug condition and connections, as well as your distributor cap
