Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor remains in sleep

I was getting some graphical errors. Green and white lines where pictures / icons should be. It would lock up the system and force me to power down the system without a proper shutdown.

Now the system sounds as though it's doing a normal start up but I do not see anything on the monitor. It remains in "sleep mode". Had it for 2 years and it just started doing this today.

Try another monitor or hock it up to a TV. see if the problem follows. if not the monitor is gone. if the porblem follows the PC then it most likely is the video card.

Screen remains black when coming out of sleep mode asus a8n-vm cms motherboard

IT is most probably windows 7 issue. I saw problem with desktop computers coming back from sleep for many times.

I advice you to avoid sleep. If that is not issue, first test memory, cause sleep stores everything to the memory.

Please tell which OS you use ? As said on start it might be Windows 7 ...

Black screen at startup

It sounds like the graphics card or on board graphics is causing the issue, as the external monitor is not working either. Hopefully its a graphics card which can be replaced easily, or there is an expansion slot for a graphics card to be added.
One thing you could try is resetting the CMOS by removing the battery from the motherboard and leaving for ten minutes. Replace the battery and try booting.

Black screen with vertical lines through it

Could be faulty graphics chip or faulty screen. If you can hook up external monitor and picture is fine then probably faulty screen. If external monitor shows same problem the faulty graphics chip. Take to repair shop and let them have a look.

This may not be much of a solution but it seems odd that a video card would have some white lines gong across the screen. I would say its a driver error or the monitor is busted. Only way to tell is if another monitor is used on the system.

the problem comes from your graphic card,as far as i know that's a AGP card so next thing u could do is open your computer case take the graphic card out from the AGP slot and clean the slot and pins from graphic card with some contact spray or alcohol wait until spray or alcohol vanish and put the graphic card back power on and see the results

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

Windows XP Pro 64-bit intermittantly wont come out of 'Sleep' mode or waken

Hi,
Try turning off, and unplugging the monitor.
then replace the cable between monitor and pc.
if you still get no action, i,d suggest looking at the graphics card.
if it,s a pci card, try it in a different slot on the motherboard.
if it,s agp try an alternative card, if it,s onboard, try adding an additional card to the system, to see if that brings the monitor out of standby.
