attach the phone to your computer with your primary iTunes account on it(with a cable, NOT over wifi) - this will allow you to reset and restore from backup, or to factory defaults without a password, then- you can restore from backup and or set a new password as needed.

Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings for Windows Vista

Table of Contents:

  1. Backup important files & data.
  2. Remove non-essential peripherals.
  3. Restore the computer's software to original condition.
  4. Restore your personal files and data from backups.
  5. Download and install driver updates
This article provides information on restoring your computer´s software to the factory settings.
Dell has designed two new backup and restore programs.
Dell Inspiron, Studio, and XPS computers use DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 as the PC Restore/Factory Image Restore option as of April 22, 2009.
Dell OptiPlex, Latitude, Vostro, and Precision computers use Dell Backup and Recovery Manager as the PC Restore/Factory Image Restore option as of May 26, 2009.

Backup important files and data

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, click System and Maintenance, and then click Back Up and Restore Center.
  3. Under Back up files or your entire computer, click Back up files.
If the User Account Control window appears, and you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
  4. On the Where do you want to save your backup? page, choose the location in which to save the backup. To do this, click either On a hard disk, CD, or DVD or On a network, and then specify the location. If you select a hard disk, be sure to save the backup to an external drive such as a USB key or USB hard drive.
  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Which file types do you want to backup? page, click to select the check boxes next to the types of files that you want to back up, and then click Next.
  7. On the How often do you want to create a backup? page, leave the defaults as they are and click Save settings and start backup, to back up the files to the specified location. Backup will save the files in the background and may take several minutes to complete. If you specified a removable drive, Backup may prompt you to enter an additional blank disc if more than one is necessary to hold all your files. Be sure to label your discs thoroughly (such as "My Files Disc 1" etc.) so you can quickly restore them later.
Once the Backup Complete message appears, you are ready to proceed with the next step.

Cant restore to factory settings tried 0,f1 and f8 none work

When your Toshiba Satellite laptop goes on the fritz, there are several instances where the best solution is to delete everything and start over. If your system frequently crashes or you can't remove a specific virus, you may want to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. While the easiest way to restore the system is to use the operating system restore disc, it is possible to restore the system without it. Each Satellite laptop also includes a hard drive recovery utility that lets you restore the operating system without the restore disc.

1. Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

2. Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.

3. Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."

4. Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

5. Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

6. Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.com

How to factory rest

  • Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.
  • Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.
  • Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."
  • Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

  • Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.
The hard disk drive restore utility is saved on a separate partition on the Toshiba laptop's hard drive. If that partition has been formatted you won't be able to use the restore utility. If you don't have the operating system recovery disc and the partition has been formatted, you will need to contact Toshiba's customer support to have them send you a new disc.

All of your existing data will be permanently removed from the hard drive when the factory restore process has finished running.

After using Darik's boot and nuke (DBAN) your hard drive will be wiped clean with little chance of recovery. This also depends on how many passes you used for the disk wipe. More passes = less chance of recovery.

Restore from backup
You can restore backups previously created (as stated in the Create backup
section) from hard disk, CD or DVD.
1 Boot to Windows XP.
2 Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
3 Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
4 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery actions and
click Next.
5 Select the desired restore action and follow the onscreen instructions to
complete the restore process.

Back up

You can backup Nokia with Nokia PC Suite. Currently the latest version of PC Suite is v7.1 1. Download the latest Nokia PC Suite, install and follow the instructions on screen on how to connect your Nokia phone to your computer.
2. Launch Nokia PC Suite and click on the top left icon that looks like a safebox.
3. Click the icon that says “Back up the desired phone contents to a backup file which is saved on the PC”.
4. Now you can select what you would like to backup from the Nokia phone. There is user files from the phone memory and memory card, contacts, calendar, notes, text messages, bookmarks and settings. You can check all to perform a full backup of your Nokia phone.
5. You will now get to choose where to save the Nokia backup file. The file name by default will have the current date and phone name with .nbu extension.
6. Click the next button and the backup will start. When the backup has completed, you will get a window telling you that.

You can now update your device’s firmware or even reset your Nokia back to its default factory settings. The steps to restore back all your contacts, text messages and etc from backup is nearly the same as back up. Launch Nokia PC Suite, click on the backup icon and select “Restore the desired phone contents from a backup file to your phone”. Backing up a mobile phone book or contacts is actually very important even if you’re not going to update the firmware. We never know when we will misplace our phone or even get stolen and cause us to loose all our important contacts.
