Air conditional water drip

That happened to us. It was a broken pump, pump was up in attic. attached to our inside air-con unit. We had it fitted on an inside wall of the house, and so a pump must be installed to take away the condensed water to the outside of the house. Hindsight being 20/20 I would never buy one that needed a pump to get the condensed water out of the house. We would have put it an outside wall where the water goes straight outside, no pump needed. Our First pump lasted just over 2 years so warranty was expired. Cost us over NZ$500 to have new pump installed. Never again. Only attach your unit to an outside wall, even it looks prettier on the wall where it would need a pump. Bottom line:- Don't touch a pump. Pump was cheap but labor cost for serviceman astronomical! Bet of luck.

How can I tell if a WM48 Zoeller Sump pump is operational. It appears the water level is over the float.

Depending on the sensitivity of the float switch you may find that the float must be completely upside-down for the pump to turn on. The easiest way to check if the pump works is grab the float by hand and hold it in the inverted position - if your pump kicks in and starts pumping you know the pump itself works and you may want to adjust your float (I use tie-straps around the handle and around the float cord to artificially shorten the float). If your pump does not pump water when the float is inverted try shaking the float to see if the inner switch is stuck. Hope that helps.

I have a portable room cooler and while the fan still works the water no longer gets drawn up for the cooling effect.

First start with a good cleaning, it sounds like the pump is either plugged or burnt out. Make sure the water pan is clean, pump screen and the base of the pump, use something and reach in and spin the pump wheel, allot of the time the pump will hang up, from sitting. But of a longer term solution, problably the pump will need replacing.

The pads are not wet even if I run the pump

The distibuter pipe that comes off the pump is prone to getting clogged with mineral deposits that have to be cleaned out from time to time. But I would check to see if your pump is still working. They only last a couplre years. Turn electric off to the unit, take off the side panels, look in the reservoir and you will find pump. Now disconnect the tubing that goes into the distibuter and hang that end outside of the unit, turn electric on and pump on for just a couple seconds. Return to the unit if water is pumped outside then your pump is still good. Which means the distributer line needs thorough cleaning. If no water came out you probably need a new pump. Good luck

Water pump not coming on

Does the pump turn by hand? Bearing seized up will stop the pump.

Open the bottom of the pump and spin the impellers if it wont spin just replace the water pump with one of correct size and voltage.

Is voltage getting to the pump motor? A bad switch can cause this.

Hope this helps please rate me as high as you can and thanks for using fix ya.

I'm a new plumber. I was asked to restart a burnham gas fired steam boiler in a fire damaged apartment. The boiler was drained last winter along with the radiators but was not winerized. I am their plumber...

1. You need to fill the entire system with water before you fire it, boiler AND radiators... Then, you would normally vent as much of the trapped air in the system as you could... It's not like you are only going to fill just the boiler and then pump that water through the pipes.

There is a temp setting on the boiler, but I don't think that's a solution. Remember that the water in the system is going to begin circulating as soon as you start the boiler. So, it will start circulating when it's cold, and then gradually warm up.

Your problem is not the sudden rush of hot water, it's going to be filling the system in the first place, and getting the boiler started before the system freezes up ...

I don't really have any suggestions for you though, other than perhaps renting one of those construction heaters ... and bring the building temp up a bit. But there's certain dangers associated with them too... Carbon Monoxide for one, fire is another (if used improperly).

Just thought of something: Fill the system with glycol based anti-freeze solution that's designed for heating systems. That oughta do it...

I'm guessing there's not a functioning water heater either at this point, is there ? If there was, you could possibly rig something up to fill the system with lukewarm water, and fire it before it freezes up.

2. You don't have a lot of choice. You have to fill the system, fire the boiler & wait.
It is going to take a long time to get the system up to temperature. Instant circulation is a double edged sword. The upside is you get a little bit of heat into the water & have it moving making freezing less likely. The downside is, it's hard on the boiler with that much cold water coming back you are likely to have condensation.
