Question about LaCie Electron 19" CRT Monitor
Hi, my monitor is about three years old and has been acting very peculiar lately. The screen willl start flickering and then it will go black with a very, very bright narrow horizontal line about 15% up from the bottom of the screen. I've found that if I push the power off button on the front of the monitor, and then push the same button to turn it back on, this temporarily solves the problem, until the next time. This has been happening for about an week. I have not added any new hardware or softwre to my system. Any ideas?? Unfortunately, I have misplaced the CD that came with the monitor. Help...Deborah North
This problem of loss of vertical deflection with the line offset from center suggests a cold solder connection in the vertical sweep circuit or in the power supply to the vertical sweep circuit. Most service shops should be able to fix.

I have 2 of these monitors and have this problem. I was so frustrated turning the monitor off and on until the white line disappeared that one day, I punched the screen. And it worked! So now whenever this happens (about once every other day) I use my palm and smack the lower left corner of the monitor until the white line disappears. I like the color on these screens so I don't want to replace them until I have to. I will NOT buy another Lacie though.

I realize this is a late posting, but I've had the same problem. I've contacted LaCie and since the monitor is still under warranty(6 more months), it's now on its way to their repair facility in Oregon. I've heard stories of how poor LaCie's support is, but I've had no problems, so far. ed

I added a post to this problem and meanwhile, not having found a solution anywhere and dead silence at Lacie, I stumbled into a temporary fix... having finally realised this is some defect in the Lacie product with 2 people having identical problem equal to monitor lifetime.. I just noticed that it would happen usually happened browsing through windows in Finder, and that it would not happen while busy, i.e. in game.. My solution was to activate the randomizer in desktop images, with a setting of 1 min. intervals, to keep screen 'busy' at all times and so far, for 2 days, the screen hasn't flinched... I know this sounds like a halfarsed solution to what is probably some sordid technical problem, but then I expect to throw this Lacie monitor out the window once I find the ideal and solid replacement, which I'm hunting for now.. Which will certainly not be Lacie.. It has been a disappointment in every respect professionally.. Hope this helps you too Deborah, until you decide a solution for yourself..

I don't have a solution, but I'm suffering from the same problem. I was turning the monitor on and off and finally that's not working. My solution was to replace the monitor :-(

SOURCE: Flickering crispy screen
maybe ur screen was put into a lot of magnetic interference. so check for any magnetic rays emitting devices like speaker adapters etc. a simple check would be to degauss( its in the screen properties). raja

My monitor has just decided to go totally black!!! It happened this weekend and I unplugged the back and plugged it back in and it worked for 3days and now it won't come back on at all.
Please help!!! What can I do aside from getting a new one?
Yep, have the same issue: black screen, with narrow while horizontal line ~40% off the bottom . While switching off and on again sometimes helps temporarily, this is very annoying
