Thanks for the responses. I have done some electrical soldering but have never had my 27' Sony apart. Where would I find the pins for the EHT and FBT? They are probably on the board but where. I don't have a schematic unless there is one inside the TV. Any extra info would be appreciated. I don't want to bring it in unless I have to. Do I need to purchase a service manual? The actual model is a KV-27V20.
Franko, If your sure about troubleshooting HI VOLTAGE then disconnect the horizontal output transistor first. Is it shorted? if it is get the fly and the transistor. But I wouldnt start it up with out a variac transformer. For the parts, go to http://www.partstore.com amd see what the parts cost or get the tele # and call them. BE CAREFULL. Good Luck
Franko, The FBT and the EHT are one and the same. It is a big block, generally found at the rt side of the PCB board. It has two leads - One Red going to the Picture Tube, and another Black going to the Small PCB on the Neck of the Picture Tube. will also have 2 controls - Screen and Focus. Just slide the PCB out ( Mind you, remember to unplug your set, and wait for an hour or so to enable the High Voltages to discharge, before you you try any soldering.) Also, remember to wear Rubber soled footwear!
After sliding the PCB out, tilt it partially, and solder the pins which are part of the FBT. Also try resoldering the Hor. Output Transistor Terminals (Generally mentioned as Q801 in most SONY TVs)
Slide the PCB back in, and close trhe set. Try switching it ON again.

Sony WEGA tube 34" 4.5 years old. The picture hue is all green/yellow/blue - no red. When I select the menu button all the colors are there. Sometimes it fades back to full color, but now most of the time the color/hue is gone. Fixable?

I have a 32" (?) Sony TV that is 12 years old. It is a floor model that is incased in wood with a shelf underneath for DVD player, receiver, etc. with a glass door in the front. Was watching TV 2 nights ago and everything went black and the audio was lost. I haven't tried anything yet. The TV is still in excellent condition and I would like to be able to repair it myself. Any info and cost of parts would be appreciated. Thanks Rick
