I went to the hardware store and bought a foot of non-colapsible hose and two stainless steel hose clamps (taking the "airbox" with me as a guide. The airbox is the rectangular box at the front end of the hose and it does come off the base unit. The unit only needs about 7-8" of hose and the clamps have to go on TIGHT, as the hose will be slightly oversized. I used Plumber's Putty around the inside of the hose to help ensure a seal but you can use other sealants, like silicone. Just give it time to dry before use, at least a day and perhaps two. Use of the clamps is a tight fit and you will have to remove other components to install them but everything will fit.

In addition it is not a "steamer" type of carpet cleaner. The water is only as hot as the water you put in.

Iron will not heat up

See the causes and proceed according, fix it. God bless you
If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide) and replace if necessary.
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord. Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide).

Shark S3101 Steam Mop won't produce steam

You have to use distilled water in the steam mop. regular water clogs it up and causes it not to work.

No steam is coming out. the orange light is on.

The channel between the steam chamber on the pump side and the exit chamber of the steam chamber is probably plugged, I opened up the chamber at both ends and cleaned it out with CLR and a heavy wire.

My steam vac is leaking water. It still works, but how do I fix it from leaking out the bottom?

It cost me $65, had to buy a new clean water bucket. If you shine a light on the bottom you will see a shatter effect much like broken shatter proof glass in car windows, apparently it is cheap and doesn't last. Who knew?

Steam buggy water reservoir cap has apparently been cross threaded, and cannot be removed by twisting or other "encouragement." If I cut it off, where can I get a replacement? Can the machine be used as...

You need to completely annihilate the plastic cap by cutting it off and destroying the remaining plastic to expose the stainless steel insert/plug. You can use either a pipe wrench or 11mm wrench to turn the insert counter-clockwise to unscrew. You will need to use some force to get the plug out since it's basically glued shut by lime deposits in your tap water.

Do not move the slotted cap or else this will need to be adjusted so that all your water doesn't squirt out before turning to steam.

Next time only use distilled water. Store with the cap off. Grease the inner and outer threads after every use and wipe it off completely before use so it doesn't mix with the steam and turn to vapor.
