I answered one problem like yours before, she told me, there's no way to remove the tray from the front nor from the rear.

she just pick up all the water using towels and tissues. she's just lucky to have small hands. she was very frustrated with the design where you can not remove the drain pan to clean it.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Model 610 - how do I locate the drip tray and how do I remove it? The power was lost after TC Marcia and products dripped in the fridge and freezer causing a terrible smell.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Plastic holds odors. The smell may not becoming from your drain pan, but more likely the liner.

What to do:

1.) Remove the shelves, ice bucket and crisper drawers and scrub them with a baking soda base cleaner.
2.) Scrub the liner walls.
3 .) There are deodorizers especially made for refrigerators; One for the fresh food section and one especially for the freezer section. You can get these for any appliance store.
4.) Ok, lets check the drain pan.
a.) Unplug your unit or turn the main breaker off.
b.) Raise the two leveling screws in the front to allow you tp pull your unit out.
c.) Having enough room to get behind your unit, unscrew the bottom cover.
d.) Observe. You either have the terrible drain pan design, where the drain pan is fixed on the top of the compressor with hi-temp adhesive. Do not attempt to remove. Over time the adhesive dries out and the drain pan falls off.
The other type of drain pan is almost just as bad. You have to unbolt the compressor and other things to access. Do not attempt this.
What field technicians do when there is a drain pan leak, is repair the leak with duct tape and a high temperature silicone adhesive. In this case if there is an odor, sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda around the drain pan.

How to get a smell out of a hotpoint fridge.we try bread soda.what else can we use

You may have had something drip and somehow get under the fridge. I know blood dripping from meat will smell. It could have dripped down through the defrost drain tube to the pan underneath. You can access the pan from the rear by removing the cardboard cover. If the smell seems to be coming from the pan, it's difficult to remove so I would just pour some bleach in it to kill any smell and you may can wipe it out from there. The drain tube may also have the smell in it so you can pour some bleach into it from the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear panel. You can move the fridge to see if anything is pooled on the floor that might smell.

2 yr old sid by side - power went off, loss everything, smells awful from shrimp etc... cleaning to no avail...what else can we do or use? HELP!

A side by side should be easier to clean out than other style refrigerators. You must clean out the defrost drain pan. It is where the defrost water normally collects and subsequently evaporates, located by the compressor and the fan, behind the refrig. For any remaining odors, I've had success with using this product, available at Do It Best hardware and other sources.
imagerequest.aspx?sku=621854&size=2&newsize=300&warehouse=d It is only a little 1/2 once bottle. (Do It Best item # 621854)

GE side by side refrigerator smells on the outside!

Mix 1/3 cup of bleach and 2/3 cup of water , and pour down drain tube (rear bottom in freezer section . Too much bleach and the smell of bleach would be circulated by the fan to the room , so be sure to add water .

Horrible oder

You are going to have to take the back cover off and investigate. Check the defrost drain pan first. If anything from the freezer, like raw meat juice, went down the defrost drain, it would end up in the defrost drain pan, usually located very near, possibly on both sides of, the fan motor at the bottom of the refrigerator. The next thing to look for is a dead mouse. They like the warmth from the refrig., and can get killed from a fan blade, electrocution, or if they ingested poison, that makes them thirsty and the warmth plus the availability of the water from the defrost drain makes an ideal place for the to curl up and die. (A dead mouse usually dehydrates and stops smelling after a few days.) All that sounds like lots of fun, right? Happy hunting and good luck.

Your whole freezer bottom is probably removeable. you mat have to remove the doors and the separator bar in front to get this out. Then you will be able to access the spill.
