Most likely you have the tab in the minidisc set to protect preventing the recorder from recoding on the disk C11 is the same as Protected.

Slide the notch on the minidisc to the other side to record. You cannot record on pre recorded minidiscs. You have to remove the disc from the recorder to do this.

If you open theprotect tab the recorder may write over what you already have on the minidisc.

SOURCE: The recording level on my mds-je480 seems to be restricted

First of all, the remote has nothing to do with anything. Neither does the PEAK HOLD function.

Apparently, your source is not putting out a lot of signal. Check to see if it has a volume control. Or that you are connected to the right output (line level and not headphone out, for instance).

Of course, you can always turn up the recording volume on the 480. That's what it is there for. You can go up 12dB, which is plenty. And you can turn that up with the remote or with the AMS dial.

MDS-E10 failed to record

If you recorded a disc and then the deck saved it; then you cannot play it is probably a bad mechanism. When I buy old decks I check them by inserting and recording a disc then ejecting it. If it will then not play when reloaded the deck is bad. Often the decks say they are saving but are damaged and cannot so this is the only way to know for certain.

My MDS-940JB stops a new recording before the indicated remaining recording time is reached. What can I do?

As the manual says, the RECORD REMAINING time is approximate.

Is your problem a matter of seconds or minutes? Are you sure you are looking at the total recording time on the display?

I need more info from you about what is happening before I can help you.

The 940 is a **** fine machine by the way. I have two of them!

Sony mds je480 dont know how to switch auto pause off

Most Sony MD's 'Auto Pause' feature can only be turned on & off with the remote. I am still unsure whether this is a feature on the JE480. I am led to believe that it is however you will need an older model's remote to turn it on & off. You need to locate the 'A-Space' button and press until 'A Pause' appears in the display. You can now turn it on or off. Good luck.

Din Unlock C71

Hi,

your deck is expecting a digital signal provided by optical cable.
Hence the error message you see. If you want to record using RCA cables, you will have to set your MD recoder so to use analog input.

Press the INPUT key repeatedly to select the Analog input, then connect your RCA cable to the Analog input and start recording.
You may have to adjust the recoding level (or volume if you will).

OR you get an optical cable and then use the Digital Input 1 or 2.

See page 11 of your user manual for detailed instructions.

Cheers

MDS E12 displays 'Over' and ejects all discs with 'Read Error'

"Over" is always lit in the display. It just marks the end of the VU meter scale.

You have a drive problem. Nothing to do with your track 15 operation.

I would suggest reseating the drive ribbon cables, oxidation of these is a common theme with my MDS-JE530 which shows the same symptoms periodically.
