Scanoe, Ram-X, Split in hull near gunwhales- Repair, How?
4-5inch splits in hull material at gunwhale level adjacent to the seat mounts (it's the older Alluminium construction 'frame') . Foam patch internally keeps water out temporarily but need permanent repair..
Re: Scanoe, Ram-X, Split in hull near gunwhales- Repair,...
I found a Scanoe like this on craigslist that was being given away because of several splits ins the hull. I was ready to buy that patch kit on line when I stumbled on a solution that worked great! I was in Home Depot looking in their pond department and saw some self adhesive patches for poly ponds. I bought on for less than $7.00 and gave it a try. I sanded the inside of the hull around the split. cleaned it well and applied the patch. It worked like a charm!

Check your plug color. You may be having a high speed mixture problem. Is your ski spitting water out the tiny hole on the side? You should try flushing the engine, you could have a motor full of sand if you beach the craft but do not wash the sand out of the back before starting. Also inspect the engine water tubes for cracks. From the hull to the motor and from the hull to the jet pump.
The normal place for a vin plate is on the rear top side of hull and the vin numbers are on the back of the hull. This year engine would have a number stamped on the cylinder,if it was a 750 cc it would have a number like JH750,JT750,ja750,etc.
It cracked at the seat bracing starting at the screw holes due to expansion and contraction of the plastic polyethylene. The heating and cooling effect is caused by storing it outside or worse directly in the sun. Go to www.bullseyetradingpost.com they have a simple fix for this, you should be back in the water in short order, then store it out of the sun.
Twin outboards should be mounted at the same level. One should be standard rotation and one should be counterrotation. The propellers should be the same pitch and size but opposite rotation.
Just check which hole on the motor mount that the top mounting bolt goes through. Should be the same one on both motors.
You may want to call the manufacture of the boat and see it there was something unique about that boat that required mounting them that way. You will need the serial number from the hull of your boat when you call.
