While watching the t.v. one night, the t.v. made a weird noise and then the picture and sound disappeared. We turned the t.v. off and now when you turn it back on all we get is a blank screen with the blue power button flashing slowy and a "bonk" sound every time the light goes on and off. We've only had the t.v. for just over 2 years and we don't have a service centre close to our house. Could it be the picture tube or power supply?????
The fact that its making a sound everytime it trys to start up tells me that the horizontal drive/output section is not starting up.. The set needs to see a hoirzontal drive signal in the power supply to start up or the power supply is starting up and being overloaded by a short circuit somewhere in the set. First thing to check IF and only if you have tv trouble shooting experience would be the horizontal output circuit and the vertical drive circuit. I once even had a rear channel audio output IC cause the very same sysmtom. Please seek the assistance of a pro if you dont have any tv experience. Good Luck

Change input device to some other like a DVD player and see. Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry. If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.
I think a harsh sound damaged the speaker. This is usually caused by software signed to enhance audio performance, such as VLC (which has high sound volume), Breakaway (a so sound-enhancing software, etc. First of all, try uninstalling such programs, or if you have not installed such programs, try restarting your computer several times. Secondly, test other speakers (external) with your computer to see if the problem is from your previous speakers. Hope this helped.
Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is XL-2200.You can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/Sony-XL-2200-TV-Bare-Lamp-Bulb-p/sony_xl-2200u_a1601753a_lamp.htm?Click=48173 Have a blessed one!
Sounds like horizonal output transistor could be over heating. There could be other problems. But I would start there. You can find the part number on the schematic inside the set. If you change it yourself don't forget to use the included insulater. Part should cost between 15 & 20 dollars. You will need make & model # of set at electronic parts store.
Diagrahm inside set will show you location of transistor.
