SOURCE: GE Profile Side by Side is getting too cold on the fridge side.

I have a GE refrigerator with the same problem of my food freezing in the refrigerator. I spoke to an appliance part person and they sold me a temperature sensor for 20 bucks. They said it would be located in the control panel, but I took the control panel off and can't find the sensor. I'm now looking on yahoo answers to find out where the sensor is located.

You can replace the doors but you will think you bought a new frig when you see what they cost. Most come as an assembly and are very expensive.

Check to see if there is any obstruction (object of any kind) in the ice cube mold area. If nothing found, you will have to replace the icemaker, as individual repair parts are not available.

GE Monogram ZV950S D2SS range hood - lights on one side stopped working then on both sides. This happened as I was changing bulbs. Everything else works.

Light doesn't work
  1. Light bulb
If your refrigerator light does not power on, the first thing to replace would logically be the light bulb itself.
  1. Light assembly
If your refrigerator light does not power on and you have replaced the bulb, this is an indication that the light assembly may have malfunctioned and will require replacement.
  1. Light switch
If you notice that your refrigerator lights are not working, replace your refrigerator light bulb. If this does not correct the issue, proceed to check the power light switch.
  1. Door switch
If your refrigerator light is not working and it is not the bulb itself or the power light switch, the next thing to check is the door switch. This can be checked for continuity with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity present, the door switch will need to be replaced.
  1. Light socket
If your refrigerator light is not working after replacing the light bulb, check for a possible damaged light socket. If the socket is faulty, replace the part to get your refrigerator light to power on again.
  1. Light board
If the refrigerator light is not working the light board could be defective. The LEDs on this board are not repairable, so the entire board will need to be replaced.

Replace door switch

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

Before you change you door light switch. Lets check it out. First, if you have changed the light bulb, did you use a refrigeration light bulb. These bulbs sometimes are available in your local food market. If you used a household light bulb it eventually will fail. The household bulb is not designed for cold temperatures.

All appliances require specific light bulbs designed to the application such as, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers. Of course they are more expensive $8.00-$10.00.

Ok, lets assume you have the correct appliance light bulb in your refrigerator. With the door open push on the door light switch. If the light comes on your door switch.

All door switches are basically the same they are plastic two contacts, except for one that is a 3 contact switch. The third contact controls the ice dispenser. This switch is on the left side of the freezer wall (Liner).

Ok, lets change a door light switch. Unplug your refrigerator. With a small flat head screw driver (or butter knife) wedge behind the plastic switch frame. Pop it out. Be careful, do not pull it out too far. You will see the two connectors. It may be difficult to remove the connector, so wedge them with a flat head screw driver (Or butter knife). Do not pull on the wires, just the metal connector.

Ok, with your particular model the contact switch is on the top of your unit. There are two screws holding the hinge cover plate. These screws are either Phillips head or hex head. Either 1/4" or 5/16" hex head. Remove the hinge top cover. You have one on each side. There is a connector. With a small screw driver, wedge into the connector to release it. The rest is yours.

If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working the water supply tube in the door may be frozen. This will be difficult to track down. Look for a connection point at the bottom or top of the door, try removing the hose and blowing air through it and out the dispenser. Next it could be the water valve that sometimes has twin valves for ice and water combined, third is low pressure into the line (bad main valve) or clogged filter... you need about 20psi for function. Last is the door switch, when the freezer door is opened the freezer door switch does two things, it turns on the light in the freezer and turns off the ice and water dispenser. If the door switch fails the dispenser will not turn on. The switch can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter. If it doesn't have continuity it should be replaced.

Ice switch dispenses water

If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working correctly the water supply tube in the door may be blocked. If the door switch fails the dispenser will not turn on or may just dispense one item. The switch can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter. If it doesn't have continuity it should be replaced.

Lec fridge-freezer TF5089 faulty door light switch - how do I remove the switch from the fridge to check it?

Prying it out is the only way I know of. When you get it partially out you may be able to get hold of it with waterpump pliers or regular slip-joint pliers adjusted for a wide grip, and pull it the rest of the way out. They are made to be removed this way, so it shouldn't be damaged. If you push in the button and the light remains lit your refrigerator section may not be getting cold, because a bad door switch can send out a signal that the refrigerator door is open, in which case the freezer may not be blowing cold air into the refrigerator section. The door switches are fairly cheap online, especially compared to a service charge.

The light in the fridge compartment....it is not the bulb. How do I remove the light housing......I found and removed the front screw but cannot disengage the rear part of the fitting.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. It is difficult to answer your question without a model number because there are several types of light sockets in use. The majority of the sockets can simply be rotated 90 degrees and removed. Others have a locking tab that needs to be unlatched.
Before trying to rotate the light (expecially in the freezer compartment) make sure there is no ice build up around the socket. If there is ice.. use a hand held hair dryer or vacuum exhaust for an extended period to remove the ice first. If you still can not get it loose respond with a model number and I will look up the light socket to see where the locking tabs are. (Most of the time only one side has the lock tab and the other side is rotated up to remove it.)

Having said all of the above... I doubt the light socket is bad. Most light problems that persist after a bulb change are directly related to the door switch. Unplug the unit first then remove the light switch by sliding a thin knife blade on the side of the switch unlock the tab(s). The freezer light switch only has one tab while the fresh food compartment switch has two. Make a jumper for the 2 wires with an insulated wire and momentaily plug the unit in to check for a light. If you have a light the switch is bad. As for the freezer switch it has 3 wires you will need to look at the switch. It has 3 markings C, NO and NC. You will need to jumper from C to NC to get the light to work if the switch has failed. As long as one end of the jumper is on C you will not hurt anything if you jumper the wires incorrectly. One of the terminals powers the ice maker door closed (if you have an ice maker) and the other powers the light door open.

I think you have a door switch problem vs a light socket problem.

650 refrigerator door light switch

Go to Sub Zero.com and click the showroom locator on the top left of the screen. This will take you to a locator to find the authorized parts distributor for your area I beleive the part number is 3060140 . Once you have the part remove the three phillips head screws that hold the grill in place this is assuming you don't have the louvered grill. There is a grey power cord with a white quick connect seperate this or turn the power off at the circuit breaker. You will be working on live electricity if you don't.Not good for yu life expectancy. There is one more phillips head screw for the cover of the two switches. The light switch has a white back and the fan switch has a black one. Remove the two wires then push it down and slip the new one in. Replace all that you took off. While you have the grill off vacuum the condensor.
