Re: no internet connection trough win 98
Lan and modem are two different things, you have to install modem drivers for windows 98 to work on windows 98. the drivers are mostly comes with modem. if you bought new driver then it might not work on 98, coz 98 is not supported by new manufactureres.

Are you nuts !!! What are you still doing on WIN98?? A copy of XP either bought or pirated is dirt cheap and will solve ALL your driver problems.. I'm not surprised your having problems finding drivers for the MB!
Unless you have VERY specific reasons you need to upgrade to XP. Any H/W that can run WIN98 will run WIN XP.
if you know the installation of winxp and win98 then it is possible to create a system with mercury board with 98 and xp.
firstly you install win xp in your computer. it's automatically located in c drive. then you intall win 98 custom install and then choose the installation directory of another drive like d. you use any boot manager to boot the pc with win98 and winxp. i don't tell you the installation process step by step. so don't mind.
it would be difficult to advise you as to which board to go for, as there are many different things to take into consideration, i would look at www.ebuyer.com and choose one then do a google search for any buyers comments.
The problem with Win 98 is that newer mobo,s will not have driver support for it, as with Win98 you have to continually revert back to your win98 cd to install certain files which are no longer compatible with new boards.
If you wish to dual boot a system; using XP and vista would be more suitable for the type of hardware you will be using.
