Question about Philips DCP855/37 Portable DVD Player

Open Question

Philips DCP750 My Philips DCP750 Portable DVD will not charge. The green charging light just flashed every 15 secs. I suspect the battery is faulty but would appreciate if anyone can verify that idea.

same problem with dcp850. The battery is internal so its hard to replace even if you can get your hands on a replacement.

SOURCE: philips DCP750/37 shows "wrong region"

Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

The rechargeable battery inside the unit is made by a company called Yuku out of Quongdong, China. It is a 3.7V double layer battery with (3) soldered connections. I have not found a replacement yet, but am still looking.
Even though the unit is new, it does not mean the battery has not gone beyond its expiration date, for chargability. Hence new unit, old battery.

Batteries in these things don't last very much; it is most likely a bad battery. Replace the battery with a new one and your problem should be solved.

How do i know when the dvd is charging?

When you first plug it in, the green led should flash for a few seconds. It will then go on solid green while charging. The green led turns off after it thinks the battery is fully charged. Not sure what it does with a defective battery but this is the basic charge sequence.

How do i charge the venturer pvs3361 portable dvd player? do i just plug in the connector from the dvd to the outlet? and let it sit?

Most of these players have a "charge" switch location on the three position power switch (Charge... Standby... On). If not, just set it to off. The unit normally flashes the green light when it is checking the batter condition, solid green when it is charging and the green led goes off when charged.

Best of luck!

Portable DVD Player will not power up

This player should be charged up until the green light goes out to be fully charged. I usually leave them on over night.
