My console will connect to Live when turned on and stay connected until I try to play multiplayer (Halo 3, COD 4), then it disconnects. After a few minutes, it will reconnect. Sometimes my PC will also lose internet connection after the Xbox disconnects. But it always comes back on after a few minutes.
It a problem with your internet provider i had the same prolem all i did was call them and tell them your being disconnected and the hsould be able to start you up again also tell them if you have a rrouter connnected as well

Could be to do with work service provider, or could be the game servers. Is it effecting your game-play? i.e. lagging. If not shouldn't worry too much about it. If it is, i would suggest speaking to your service provider and seeing of they are throttling your internet connection
This sounds similar to what happened to me, except I couldn't load some multiplayer maps.
If you know someone that recently bought Halo 3,(within a week) ask him/her to return it with your defective game in the case. He/she will receive a new unopened Halo 3, and you can take your friend's recently opened copy of Halo 3.
If you don't want to be cheapskate, you can borrow Halo 3 from a friend, and save it on your hard drive. After that, you can use your defective disc just to play the game. Unfortunately, if you save it on your hard drive, it supposedly makes the game slower when searching for multiplayer matches online, and other things.
If you don't care about saving money, you could buy another copy of Halo 3.
Try resetting the modem that might help. Because the problem is with your modem not sending the right packet to your xbox. and dont use a computer while doing this or try birdging the network watch my video on youtube for it. Hope it helps. And if it dosnt work then contact xbox live support.
I think because it was a BETA. They just wanted feed back, so they can tweak with the COD 5 game. That same thing happen when Halo 3 BETA came out after several week you couldn't play it no more. I have the same problem, ask your online buddies and see if they can get on. Hope that helps.
