I cannot get my Nintendo DS wifi connection to work with my siemens se 587 gigaset router
When I try to connect I get an error message that says, "Error code: 52000 Unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range of the access point or check DHCP settings."
I have tried to manually set an ip but don't know how to do it, someone suggested that I make it 10 digits higher than the computer's ip, how? I know how to access my router's settings but there seem to be a couple of different ip's. one starting with the usual 192.168 and the other starting with 74, which should I use?
Also with regards to the DHCP settings the only option i can finfd to do eith that is a simple enable or disable. It is enabled and it still doesn't work.
any help will be much appreciated as the nintendo help pages are useless

The Wii console's internet connection settings are not correct. This could include your network name (SSID), WEP or WPA keys, or any manual settings you may have entered.
It's possible something has changed since you last connected online with your Wii console. Try setting up a new connection file, using your router's settings.
While "Search for an Access Point" is the easiest and recommended connection type, your network may require you to use the "Manual Setup" option.
If the problem persists, try our general troubleshooting for tips.
If you are still getting this error code, please call 1-800-255-3700 for further assistance.
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access.
The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key.
The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.
What i would suggest is either using the suggested routers which are suggested for the reason of they are know to connect with little error. Other routers conduct themselfs differently and cause errors. What you might try is updating your router and drivers on your computer. This should update your router to the best know configuration and allow the smoothest opperations. If this doesn't answer your problem please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it.
I look forward to your posts.
The Default gateway for Siemens Gigaset SE587 is 192.168.1.1. Open Internet Explorer and put the def gateway in the browser.
The default username and password for siemns router is admin.
Click on Setup Tab than Basic Setup on left hand side. Update the details as folloing- Use – Tiscali data PPPoA Interface PVC Selection – Tiscali data PPPoA Authentication – Auto User Name - Tiscali u/n Password - Tiscali password PPPoA Connection Mode- Always On NAT - ON
And click on save settings. To confirm if the customer is connected, check the status of Online light – which should be green. Alternatively click on status (On top) to check internet status to confirm connection.
Setting Up Wireless connection – Click on da wireless tab on the top.
Ensure that the Auto channel is disabled and the wireless channel is 11, wireless n/w is Enabled and mode is Mixed.
To secure the wireless connection – Click on Wireless Security option on left hand side If you want the Security mode as WPA than select the wireless security mode, as WPA and enter WPA Shared key which would be on the base ofthe router. Again click on save settings.
Try connecting to the wireless network again and I m sure it should work..... lemme know if it does.
nintendo ds should work with most routers it's just the set thats a problem, once the wifi game is in go to wifi connection one settings, then where it says auto obtain ip address click no, then edit, then use an ip address that is the next digit up from your pc or your router eg, if your routers ip address is 192.168.2.1( this is what you would type in your internet browser to get into the router settings), the next digit used by a pc would be 192.168.2.2, so use 192.168.2.3 or above incase you have more than one pc.
Next is the subnet mask which should again be as the routers subnet mask which will more than likely be 255.255.255.0., press edit and enter that number
Next is the gateway setting, press edit, this is the same number of your routers own ip address as mentioned earlier this is the ip address you type to get into the router eg 192.168.2.1.
next is auto obtain DNS, again click no, then on the primary address click edit and again enter your routers own ip address.
next is secondary DNS, again click edit and again enter your routers ip address, then click save settings.
You should now be able to connect to your router and the wifi connection at nintendo server.
