Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Netgear WGT624 won't allow computer to connect

All of a sudden my computer will not connect to the router. It sees the router as available and shows the signal as strong. However, it will not connect wireless. It does not matter if I disable or have the security enabled. This just started. I have shut everything down and rebooted, but no luck. If I connect using the cable through the router, it is fine. Any thoughts?

hmm..maybe your wireless configurator has too many wireless signals..clear that out, and then let it see the signal anew...

Hi fairway ......if your wireless router is set up as a dhcp it should give your computer and ip address and other information when it connects, to check this assuming you are running windows, click on the start go to run......type cmd
a black window will open up in that window type ipconfig /all (note:there is a space between the ipconfig and the /all) then click enter.
a list of the connections will show.....look for the wireless and see if the internet address starts with 192.168.x.x .......x being the network No so may be eg 192.168.2.5 or may be 10.0.x.x
if the ip is 169.x.x.x then you have no connection to your router at all.
so you will need to go to the connections in the control panel and on the wireless connection, right click and go to properties, then when the next one opens, choose tcp/ip the click ok button.
they should be set to obtain ip automatically and the same with the dns.
now if they weren't set to this change it so they are, then hit ok to all the boxes to close them.
then when your back in the connections right click the wireless and choose repair.
now the icon on the tasbar right click it, choose view available networks, and find your in the list then click connect.
you will be asked for your pass phrase and or sid, once you have completed this it should say aquiring network address and connect to you router.
if this is not the case let me know as we may need to change some setting on the router.
hope this helped

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Laptop Winxp suddenly not seeing wireless network. Vista 64 main computer and Netgear WGT624 wireless router appear to be working fine.

Are you using the WZC on your WinXP computer of the wireless adapter's software utility? Try to reboot the computer and check on the system tray if you will see the computer icon with a red X, right click it and select view available wireless networks, if it cannot see anything... Go to Start, All Programs and look for anything that pertains to wireless adapters open the utility and refresh the list of wireless networks available.... if you see your wireless network name, select it and hit connect

Hi, i have bought this netgear 108mbps wireless router WGT624, 2 weeeks ago, it was working good, but now suddenly it shows less mbps and when tried to restart it, now it not working, i mean it says in my...

I suggest try to check the netgear if it is connected to the internet. If the wirelss signal is good, it might be the internet connection is having some issue.
What you can try to do first is:
1.connect a computer to the netgear directly using an ethernet cable (RJ45)
2. click start then select run type cmd (It's a black screen)
3. type ipconfig/all then press enter on your keyboard
4. check the ip address it should be 192.168.X.X and the default gateway is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on the router default ip address
5. on the black screen type ping yahoo.com then enter on the key board
*if there is a "reply from" message it means there is an internet connection going in the router and you need to configure the router. *If the message is "unable to detect" or "request timed out". You need to contact you Internet Service Provider for assistance.

Wireless connection

Make sure that your computer is getting a valid IP address from the router. If your wireless network is secured, you might as well consider checking the wireless settings.
