Smeg oven SE37MFX5

My smeg oven is not working. It started when there was a popping sound in the oven followed by display lights flickering then no power. When switched on, the orange light does not work , and no didgital display. I replaced the oven element which was the cause and the oven bulb. However unsure as to what to replace with the digital display and orange lights not working.

By the sounds of it, there must have been a power surge to knock out the digitla display and orange light. Is there a fuse or does the circuit board need replacing?

Further starting the oven again after replacing element and bulb, no light goes, one of the fans work but the second centralised fan to circulate the heat does not work.

Any suggestion as to how to get the oven working again?

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Smeg oven not working. only clock and thermostat light working

It sounds like you have either one of the following things that need attention. First, turn off both breakers to the oven and then back on. Next check the wiring from the receptacle to the back of the oven. Next, check your internal fuses. Most ovens have them. Last, check the wiring to the elements and control switches. Somewhere you have a wire burned off the terminals or control switch. That smell you referred to is probably one of the wires that may be burned.

Oven will not switch on

If there is an A only on the clock(no other digits) your clock has failed. Either replace , or can be bypassed. Oven won't work without clock set.
