I WANT GOOGLE FOR MY HOME PAGE ONLY

Many times, downloading a toolbar will automatically set your homepage whether you wanted it to or not. First, I would check to see if you have any toolbars installed (I remove all of them).

Click on Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features

If present, right-click on the Ask Toolbar and select Uninstall.

Next, return to Control Panel and open Internet Options. Under the Homepage box, enter http://google.com/ and click on the Apply button. This should solve your problem.

If the homepage continues to revert back to the other pages, you more than likely have a running application causing the browser to automatically select the scripted page. I would then recommend downloading Google Chrome or Firefox to use as a web browser. If you already use Google Chrome and the problem is happening, download again to revert the settings back to default.

I have too many tool bars on my screen , How do I delete the ones I do not need

Usually happens when one installs a program, application, etc.

You're in the middle of installing, and they want to sneak an anti-virus program in, ( trial offer), or Google toolbar, or Ask.com toolbar, or whatever the 'new flavor of the month is'.

A) Add/Remove Programs:
1) Click on Start (Or Windows logo button), then on Control Panel.
2) Click on Add/Remove Programs.

3) Look down the list, when Add/Remove Programs is fully loaded.
See any toolbar names there?

Probably will not state toolbar with the name, but if you see Ask, Google, etc; that does not look like a program you installed; click on Remove.
(DO NOT remove any Windows programs)

B) Reinstall your internet browser
Have Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc?

Download again, and reinstall.
WATCH that you just save your bookmarks, and do not save the toolbars again.

[It will ask if you wish to save your Bookmarks/Favorites, etc.
Yes to that. No to anything else ]

Regards,
joecoolvette

[ I had the Ask.com toolbar, slip in on me the other day! Sheesh!
Deleted that baby fast!
I use Mozilla Firefox. Don't need no cr@p.

When you are installing, look through each small screen.
If you see an advertisement; Ask.com toolbar, Google toolbar, McAfee, etc;
there will be a small square to the left of it, and a Green checkmark in the box.

There also may be two boxes.
Go to the small box on top with the first listing, left-click on the box.
This removes the green checkmark from that box.
Also from the small box below it.

Now click on Next

KEEP a sharp eye on every small window. May have to uncheck a box on a few windows. You can back up to the beginning, and look again. Be SURE before you click on Install.
Usually starts out with McAfee. {Yuck! ]

Youtube appears to be broken

If you can view other websites but youtube doesn't work for you, most likely you need to update Adobe Flash Player on your laptop. You can do so by following below instructions:
1. Open web browser(like IE, Mozilla, etc) and go to
http://www.adobe.com
2. Click on "Downloads" section or tab
3. Once you are directed to the "Featured product downloads" section, click on the "Get ADOBE FLASH PLAYER" at the right side of the page.
4. You will then be directed to another page containing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (i.e. Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55). Version may change from time to time.
If you do not want to install the Free Google Toolbar kindly uncheck the box that says "Yes, install Google Toolbar-optional "
5. Click on "Download Now". When you get the prompt or security warning window just click "Run". If you get another prompt asking "Do you want to run this software?" just click "Run" again.
6. When User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Yes".
7. Once installation is complete just click "Finish".

Try to view youtube again. If it still doesn't work try using a different browser like Google Chrome. You may download it for free. Hope this helps.

Hello padma_bright, it sounds 'like' "there has been a 'change to the "OS" {Internet Browser}, and or "Home Page" without your 'knowledge!"

These 'changes' take place or happen; usually when "Downloading [New] Software, Installing 'or' Un-installing Hardware and Software.

"When a "New Toolbar, is {Installed without knowledge, or permission}, from "any type of download."

ie. Games, Videos, and especially Music!"

  • !Important: If you notice a "New Toolbar," in your Browser Window?
  • Next, click on the "Start Button -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Check: "Home Page" for your {Default Browser Settings}
  • ie. "If you had "Go ogle," now its? You Tube?

*To change the [Home Page]!

  • "Highlight to "Delete the 'Unknown Browser.'
  • Now, type: ie. Google.com, Firefox.com...!"
  • This will; "Restore the {Default Browser}.
  • "Restart the Computer!"

*To [Uninstall the Toolbar]

  • Click on the "Start Button -> Control Panel-> Hardware and Sound -> Programs and Features -> Scroll to find the Toolbar.
  • Next, [Uninstall the Toolbar].
  • "Restart the Computer!"

"Go to this "Website," and "Fill-in" or {Choose} any information needed to get the "Drivers" you need.

Than you'll be able to "Download the Drivers."

"Please let me know if you 'need' further assistance, or the 'solution' helped? "By posting a 'Comment" or 'Rating' the solution. Thank you; your 'response' is important to me!"
