My kenmore 158 1690 feed dog is not going down below the plate level on the return. So my fabric feds forward and then backward on every stitch. How do I adjust the feed dog down a bit to prevent this

Certain materials are troublesome with this issue. Does it do this with with all materials? Anyway, to start with loosen the pressure foot a lot and see if this will get rid of this problem. If it continues with all materials then you will need to see your repairman for a major adjustment.

check the feeder feet with out material under the presser foot see if they are up or down and moving or not . some I do know the feed feet are retractable .

How do I stop my needle from breaking and how to I see to it that the machine is self feeding the material forward instead of me having to pull it towards me to get the stitches into the material?

The needle may be bent, but surely the material should feed away from you not towards? Is the bobbin in correctly? If you have inadvertently left the feed dogs down the material will not be gripped and stay in the same place instead of moving. Check.

How do i get the material to feed through

depending on the brand of sewing machine you have, make sure it's not in the darn mode,, make sure the presser foot is against the fabric so the feed dogs can pull it thru,,if the presser foot is against the fabric correctly then the feed dogs may need to be check to see if they need a adjustment or replacing

Dog feet seem as if they are not raising high enough to grab material and move it back. It their a simple adjustment?

It could be that your stitch length is not long enough to sew in a forward direction. Embroidery/Sewing machines have a feed dog switch to raise and lower for sewing or embroidery.

The Feeder Dogs are not moving forward or backwards on my sewing machine.

Are the Feed Dogs dropped? Check your manual for the location of the switch. .... otherwise your mechanism has been compromised. Take it in for repair.

Material will not move forward

Make sure the presser foot is coming all the way down. Check your stitch length setting too.

Feed doesn't feed Singer 560

there should be a control to raise or lower the feed dogs, lower to stipple and high to sew normal. it sounds like you may have lowered them
