Coils freeze up and fridge runs all the time till I melt coils.

There might be a few causes

Door Seal might be defective causing the door not to shut tightly this causes air from the room to get into the freezer through the opening and as the air comes in contact with the evaporator coils, it freezes. Normally the defrost system removes the ice but if the seal is defective the coils freeze too quickly and the defrost system cant keep up

If the freezer evaporator coils ice over, the defrost thermostat might be defective. Several times a day the defrost heater turns on for a few minutes to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the freezer evaporator coils. In order for this to work, the defrost thermostat has to sense that the coils are cold enough. If the coils are cold enough the defrost heater will turn on. If the thermostat is defective it may not be able to sense the temperature of the coils and then won't turn on the defrost heater. If the defrost heater doesn't turn on, the evaporator coils ice over and eventually no air will be able to travel through the coils to provide cooling to the freezer. The defrost thermostat can be checked for continuity. It should have continuity when it reaches the low temperature of its operating range.

Hi, the thermostat is faulty replace it. There is nothing else that can make a fridge exceed the set temperature but the thermostat.

Frost free refrigerator not working..heater has resistance, cant determine if defrost timer is working correctly

Hi,

One way to check the timer is to put a pen mark on the timer dial, say at 12 O?lock position. Have the fridge running for a few hours and check back and see if the marker has moved.

Another item in the defrost cycle is the DTT. (Defrost Termination Thermostat). This thermostat works in reverse and has continuity below freezing temperature. Therefore to test this you need to check coninutity by placing it in a bowl of ice for a few minutes.

Good luck

The freeze control on my PF1222TB is not working. Whenb the temp drops below the temp set on the contol, it does not start the pump

Freeze control is a thermostatically controlled switch.
There are 4 basic components:
-Wire connections that can come loose. Check that wire terminals are tight.
-Thermostat setting that can be set lower. Move dial and see if that has effect.
-Thermostat that can go bad.
-Internal switch that can stop working.

Replacement freeze control can be purchased separately:

Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator

could be, but can also be a MAJOR problem not worth fixin! thermostats usually tend to be relieable for that they either cool althe time or quit altogether, the fact that freezer cant freeze ice, sounds as if its running(thermo good) perhaps a freon leak , not enough freon, bad compressor or some other sealed system issue
