Why does this come up? There appears to be an error with your installation. Please reinstall the application. Always pop up everyone I

If this error appears every time you start the computer, then there is a program in your system start up that isn't properly installed. I can't tell you which program without more information. A quick search shows that this is a common problem with DriverCure and FileCure. Uninstall/reinstall them if you have one of these programs.

If you don't know which program it is, then you need to go through your startup programs one by one.

Press "windows key + R" to bring up the run dialog box.
Type in "msconfig" and click "OK."
If the UAC dialog box comes up, click "Continue."
Click on the "Startup" tab.

It will display a list of every program that runs when your computer boots. Uncheck the first box for the program that you think might be causing the problem and then click "OK."

A box asking if you'd like to restart your computer will appear. Click "Restart Now."

A dialog box will appear notifying you of changes to your startup, click "OK" and msconfig will reopen.

If the error reoccurs, then uncheck the next item on the startup tab and repeat until you find the one causing the error. Make note of the name of the last thing you unchecked and uninstall/reinstall that program.

To get rid of the startup notification box, simply check "Don't show this message..." before clicking "OK"

I uninstalled a program that had named itself program files, and I think it uninstalled everything on windows XP I don't get a login screen anymore

The only thing i know to be named "Program Files" is a default folder created upon installing the OS. It wouldnt be a program, its a folder where the programs you install are stored by default. if you did delete this folder, you may no longer have a working OS, and might need to reinstall your OS.

Can anyone explain how batch file works?

This is kind of tricky not knowing how familiar you are with the commandline, but a batch file simply contains single commands and executes them in order (usually from top to bottom). A batch file (or bash script in Linux) can be very helpful if you have to run certain commands over and over again, so you don't have to write them by hand.

An Example: You want to store your network settings in a text file.
You open the command prompt (WIN+R) and type this line:
mkdir C:\Network
Then you type this line:
ipconfig /all > C:\Network\ipconfig.txt
The first line creates a folder on your C: drive called "Network"
The second line runs the ipconfig command and saves it as a text file in that new folder.

To make a batch file, you open Notepad and insert the two lines. Then save it as "IP.bat" (make sure not to save it as "IP.bat.txt"! This is the most common mistake. If you save a file from Notepad, select "All Files" in the "Save As Type" dialog. Otherwise it will save it as a .txt file and you have to rename it later.)

Now you can double click the batch file and it runs all commands in the file.

You can also see the danger. If you run a batch file and don't know what it really does, it can destroy your whole system. So make sure you understand it and/or get it from a trustworthy source.

A nice example of how complex a batch file can be is here:

Copy the content into a text file, save it as AllHelp.bat, run it and it will create a webpage with all available DOS commands.

Hope this helps - otherwise let me know if you have specific questions.

I have received a call telling me that my system is in danger of something. Can you please help. Thankyou

Be careful!!! There is a scam that sounds like this. Don't do anything except delete this message. Above all, don't give them access to your computer, because then they will know everything about you, including credit cards and banking....

Unfortunately, I would either have to be in the chat mode or on the telephone with you to fully analyze your problem and provide a coherent answer. But don't despair because there is a little FREE program that may solve your problem.

It happens periodically that our computer shuts down, restarts, hibernates or some other weird thing when we really don't want it to. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Just click on the following link and your problem should be solved: Download Microsoft's Fixit

I don't know your skill level so my suggestion is that you utilize the automatic function of Fixit.

Be a hero and fix your friends' computers; just don't tell them how you did it! That will be our little secret.

All the best,

Am using roxio creator de 10.1,recently when i want burn stuff,it says the driver is been used by another user or program. What should i do? Please help me.

1. check you start up menu and see if you have any audio programs there.
Right click on them if so and delete from the start up menu. Don't worry the program is still in the program list.
You may have a Windows Media play having priority over any other audio program there by taking over the DVD burner.

I have windows7 64bit every time i turn on photojoy a sign says NOT RESPONDING

Sometimes a software package is just simply corrupted. Since the photojoy software is a free software package I would simply remove it from my computer and re-install it.

If you want to try this go to Start button, control panel, then under "programs" click on "uninstall a program", then find the photojoy program from the list provided and uninstall it. Don't worry, you are going to re-install the same program.

Now go to (or your choice of online program suppliers) and click on the "Download" button for photojoy.

Follow the on-screen instructions and this will re-install photojoy.

Here's the deal... these programs are billions of bits in length, one bit out of place makes the system inoperative. It is much easier to just toss the bad one and replace it than to try to find which bit has gone awrey. This is not advisable on a $15,000.00 software package for a corporation, but OK for a free consumer package like yours. I'm a network administrator for several large corporations and we don't diagnos these types of problems, we replace them. It is much easier and much more effective.

This is how I would address this type of problem, if you feel comfortable doing this then go for it. If you don't then you need to find someone in your area to help you solve this situation.

Good luck, and if you have any further questions don'e hesitate to ask, that is what I love to do....solve problems!
