well..iexplore.exe, which is what you are most likely referring to, is a system file, and should NOT be stopped. it is integrated into the windows IE interface, despite the contentions of MSoft.

Iexplore.exe should not be disabled, required for essential applications to work properly.

see also if it's the real one or just a virus masquerading as that file.

Laptop hanging off

If your laptop is hanging while you are working, press this combination keys:
Ctrl Alt Del.
If you are using windows XP, it should automatically take you to task manager.
But if you are using windows vista or windows 7, it would show you options, of which you are to select 'task manager'.
End the tasks the are not responding by right clickin it and selecting 'end task'.
If that task still refuses to end, still in the task master pane, go to 'processes'.
Select the processs running the nonresponsive task. Eg, if internet explorer is the non responsive task, the process would be 'explorer.exe'.
End that process.

If it stil doesnt work, then select 'end all processes', and restart the system.
Hope this was helpful?
Success.

I want to delete a program in my control panel. It won't let me. It says "close all web browsers". How do I do that?????? Wayne

Hello,
If all your internet windows appear closed, but the uninstall program is still complaining that they are open, you may have to kill the process. Press ctrl + alt + del. Select processes tab. scroll down the list and highlight and press end task on all that say iexplore.exe, firefox, chrome (if you use).
