I have a DPTV335 that seems to have a short in the blue crt. When I turn the set on I see a blue arc in the tube. All three CRT's won't light up except for the faint glow (heater). Is that normal?
I removed the blue CRT board from the tube but the red & green still did not light up.
Quesitons 1) What is the best way to bypass a shorted crt to test this set? I read somewhere that all three crt's need to be connected or the set will shut down. Is that correct? I don't want to do further damage by powering up the set without the blue crt circuit board connected.
I also tried to move the blue crt to my old set (PTV835)...to test it....Dumb move I guess...Now the PTV835 set is dead also...It was working before I put the faulty CRT into the set but now all three cans are also dead.
My guess is that the bad CRT somehow shorted out the something in both sets.
Question 2) When a crt shorts does it typicaly shut down all the cans?
Question 3) When a crt shorts - what other circuits get damaged? I'm trying to figure out where to go from here.
