Question about Microsoft Windows Live Messanger

1 Answer

Forgotten password I have had an account with windows live for a couple years and have had the same password for the whole time.a friend of mine had his account hacked the day i thought it would be a good idea to change it. and the next day i go to sign on and like a twit, i had completely forggotten the password. i tried going through the reset password steps on and it gets to this point where it asks if id like to go through id validation or send to an alternate email. well when i made my account two years ago i didnt think about the fact that i might forget my password. so i didnt have an alternate email. so i chose id validation. i put my name, my state, zip code. and then the anwser to my secret question. best childhood friend. well due to the fact that im technically still in my childhood, i guessed all the people that im attending high school with. no dice. tried everybody i even talked to in middle school. no dice. everybody i knew from elementary school. no dice. everybody i dug in a sandbox with. you guessed it. still no luck. so i call the people at microsoft. and i talk to the machine for about 30 minutes. then it puts me on the phone with a fellow. im glad to hear a human being again. he is very kind and understanding. but he then proceeds to walk me through the reset password steps. i knew how to do this. and he just told me how to do what i already knew. i told him this. and he had me send an email to them. saying my name, andress. and pretty much everything that could verify my identity. and then he hangs up after it sends. i get an email a week later.(btw my msn account is just for msn and xbox live) {i use yahoo for communication via email} i get an email on my yahoo account, telling me who i was, and then it just gives me the steps on how to do the reset password thing,(which was the exact same thing the guy on the phone walked me through) is there any solution to my problem besides getting a new account. ill accept and try any suggestions.

That is a very tough question, the only way I solved a problem like that was checking if you put a space. It also may be case sensitive. I would also call microsoft back and express your disgust in the guy that helped you. They should be able to help you with a competant associate. The only other way is to get a network securty engineer or white hat hacker to get a copy of the password hash from the secure page and then brute force it offline. After you get your password back you should change your secret question. Lastly, since you play xbox on that account you should be able to verify your billing info, if you use a credit card to pay or you have it tied to something like a bank account.

Exactly, thats good new, all you have to do is call microsoft support and tell them that. Have your mom nearby to help with the card info. Tell them you can verify to reset your password in that manner. Here is a good number to call for Live services:

Let me know how that goes

I forgot my xbox live passcode on Xbox

I forgot mine not too long ago and went through the system reset options for forgotten passwords.
My password is the same as my Microsoft Live (Hotmail) account so if you can remember that it should be the same as your XBOX password.

Else just use the forgotten password options to change it.
This is quite easily resolved.

I have my hotmail inbox open but i cannot open my messages

Microsoft has had problems with hotmail ever since they started the windows live junk. They have corrupted my account many times and lost pages and pages of important emails of mine. Most of the time, it doesn't work anymore unless I go through a procedure of getting them to allow me access, it always tries to say I was blocked when I log in, then after finally getting access(after couple of days when they get back to me), it doesn't recognize my password, so I make a new one. THE NEXT TIME, I try to use it, I have to go through the whole process over again, and I've used that account for at least 15 years. I made a new windows live id, doesn't help, their server just gets more confused. I finally get access only to find about 5% of my mail that was there before. Yahoo is almost as bad, due to constantly changing stuff. I lost 2 domains and 3 websites simply because they couldn't make my credit card no. (which I use everyday) work to renew my yearly subscription. All other businesses have no problem with my card but, yahoo can't make it work and won't except payment any other way. Anyway, I gave up on hotmail, because the live stuff seems to push the priority of maintenance out the window for microsoft. They are all about tomorrow instead of letting us use what we got yesterday.

My sons xbox password was forgotten and now he cant add any of his friends what do i do

Are you talking about the manual passcode that you assign on each console? Or the password to his XBox Live account?
What do I do if I forget my pass code for my Xbox LIVE Account? If you have forgotten your Xbox LIVE account pass code, recover your account using Xbox LIVE.

    To recover a gamertag
To recover your gamertag, you need the associated Windows Live ID and password for your Xbox LIVE account.
  1. If you're signed into Xbox LIVE with another gamertag, press the Guide button, and then press X on your controller to sign out.
  2. cntrlr_guidebtn01.jpg
  3. Press the Guide button again, and select Recover Gamertag.
  4. guideprofile_recvrgmrtgsignedout.jpg
  5. Select Recover Gamertag again.
  6. Enter your Windows Live ID and password for the gamer profile that you want to recover.
  7. Follow the on-screen directions.

What do I do if I forget my password for my Xbox LIVE Account? I recommend you follow these detailed instructions if you have forgotten your actual Xbox Live password. Good Luck.

I can't find my original facebook account. Had problems logging in and somehow ended up with a whole new blank account. My friends can still see my profile on theirs though. will have to know what email address you submitted when you opened your fb account.......If you've forgotten....then ask your friends to look on your profile page.......

once you know what email address you used then sign in again using that email address and password.......If you've forgotten your password, then just click the line that says "forgot password" and follow the directions.......good luck

You may have forgotten your password, but can you still remember the information you used in setting up your email account. If you can then try clicking on "Forgot your password". Then follow the steps to get your account back.

My 12 year old daughter's MSN hotmail account has somehow been hacked into. The person who is stating that they are my daughter has been using obscene language to her friends. Is there any way that we can...

Try to go to and try the forgotten password option, and you'll have a new password in your mailbox, log in with that and change the password inside and she'll be able to log in to her account once again.

Forgotten Windows Live Password

i guess there's no way to do it since that's the only thing they can do to verify who you really are.
even if you email them several times the most convenient is forget that account, and get a new account.

they will not do special arrangement either since they are accommodating millions of customers.
