Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router
Hi auxil first of all if your getting the interenet when your router is connected with the cable the modem and router are mostly set, if your not getting it with the wireless then it may be a couple things:
1. is your router set up as dhcp so it hands out the address to the computer trying to connect, this is normally a range of addresses starting with 162.168.X.X where x is the range.
or it can me 10.0.0.X. depending on your modem and how it is set up.
2. once it's a dhcp the computer your are on be it a desktop with a wireless card or a laptop with with a wireless connection needs to be set up to accept the dhcp, most computer and opterating systems do this for you, but if you have changed your ip to a static ip it needs to be in the on the same network as the router.
so this in mind the easiest way is to let the router give the connecting computers their ip, so to check this go to your connections, then right click on the wireless connection......choose properties......then choose tcp/ip and properties button.....then make sure it has the obtain ip address automatically and the same with the dns then click ok to all the boxes closing them.
3. if this still doesn't cconnect you may not have set up the dns and default gateway in the router,
to get this information when your wired in the router, and it's working, on wondows click start then go to run, type cmd and hit enter, when the black box appears type ipconfig /all (note:make sure there is space between config and the /all)
look the for the lan network and look for the dns primary and sec these are the address for your routers dns, and check the default gateway this should be the modems address.
with these in your router you should be able to connect.
if not get back to me, hope this helps.
