Re: TV HAS AN OCCASIONAL GREEN LINE THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF...
The verticle output IC has a bad connection on it or is going bad. There are no user replaceable parts inside this set, as its a solid state set and all parts are soldered in. If your aware of the HI voltage issues, and know how to do alighnments on a tv, then you can order the entire board as a module from http://www.ptscorp.com. If you dont then your gonna have to seek a pro to assist you in this repair, as these sets hold HI voltage inside thenm even after they have been unplugged. Good Luck

Sorry, you can try reconnecting connectors on T-con board (small rectangle board at top center under metal shield)if you are lucky, but it is likely a panel failure. It won't hurt to watch it as it is, if it doesn't bother you
You have a vertical amplifier failure or dry solder on the vertical IC. When cold if the TV works for some time and then you are getting a thin white line in the middle of the screen after some time -- its a dry solder problem. The vertical IC runs very hot in the TV and develops dry solder after a few years. Will run when cold and switch off when hot. Are you well versed with electronics to do the repair yourself ?. If so, revert back and I will guide you if you mention the TV model #.
Is there a picture with the green line going through the centre. If it`s just a green line with no picture, it sounds like the Frame (Vertical scan) Output IC has failed and possibly the safety feed resistor near the LOPTX. The reason why it`s a green line is to protect the tube from phosphor damage. The older TV`s would produce a VERY bright white line across the screen which could burn the phosphors withing the tube if left turned on in that condition. It`s not an expensive repair, but is it worth it with the price of Modern TV`s nowadays. If there is a picture with a green line, it may be due to phosphor damage, in which case, it`s a new CRT (tube). Ian
im pretty sure you cant fix that you probably need to buy a new one.. i know that because my somputer has a white line that runs right down that middle, not all the time but sometimes. my father looked into fixing it and he found out that you have to buy a brand new screen or tower or something like that.
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
